Would love to get everyone's thoughts on several points mentioned in this article.

Doesn't that contradict the entire premise of National INDOOR Football League? (or does it fit right in with the rest of this bass ackward league?)

What happens when it rains? Lightning? Plague of locust?

When exactly was the last time an NIFL player made the leap directly to the NFL? Developmental league for the NFL? Who blew smoke up this guy's a**?

Owner/coach never works.

How many fans does the "Delray Beach Tennis Center" hold for football?

NIFL games are televised on the Sci-Fi Channel? Who knew?

None of the staff has professional experience.

This seams to be a trend, Arkansas playing on a running track; Palm Beach plays on a tennis court. What's next, baseball diamond?

If memory serves me correctly, the indoor rules played outdoors was once proposed for Hawaii some years back. Don't think it ever came to fruition.
Personally, if I want to watch football outdoors, I'll go see an NAFL 11-man game, we've got 2-3 teams in Nebraska. One of the reasons I enjoy the indoor game is it's unique rules, but more importantly, I like the climate-controlled environment. No sweating, no sunburns, no bugs.

Surprised applying the indoor dimensions outdoors hasn't happened already.

This would be lucrative for semi pro teams to convert to the 8-man game.

Dress at most 25 players for each team and play on a high school field that is remarked as 50 yards long with 8 yard endzones.

Creative ideas for a goalpost (or go without)? Pcv pipe?

The other option is extrapoints become a 1 point conversion from the 5 and a 2 point conversion from the 10, after a touchdown. No fieldgoals. Teams punt the ball on 4th down.

Maybe teams could get awarded with 3 points for any drive that ends within the 10 yardline? On any down the offensive team in possession and within their opponents' ten yardline could notify the ref they want the drive to be over and get 3 points. The team receiving 3 points would kickoff to restart the game.

They could move the Asheville team out of the Civic Center and play at Memorial Stadium right now. At least the turf won't look like total crap.

I kind of suggested this two months ago for the Asheville team. But they are such a total mess up it doesn't really matter. They are one-and-done if they get that far.

This League Is An Absolute Joke

Probably not in this case, so much.

While I'm not a fan of the idea, the idea has been bantered around over the years, and I don't think it's just been in this league. Someone was going to try it eventually.

Who knows, maybe it'll be successful and everyone will wonder why it hadn't been done before.

I know I enjoyed sitting in the sun, drinking a cold beer and watching football during the USFL game I went to years ago, maybe this will catch on much the same.

Worth a try, and far from as ridiculous as some of the things we see at this level in the various leagues.

Well they should not be in the NIFL if they are wanting to play outside. Start another league NOFL. Come on people this idea is totally against what indoor football is about. I guess my Guard will have to go down there and play in the tennis court. Yeah us

Oh, come on guys...now I think CS is as much of a joke as anyone on here, but for the love of god, it's INDOOR football!! That's half the fun of it...no wind, no weather, loud music.

If your city doesn't have an arena, then you don't get a team!!!
If you want to have a league that plays "arena" type football outdoors, then FORM one, don't drag this sport down for the sake of expansion.

Supposedly, the stadium seats around 7,000. I once played soccer at an indoor soccer center that was a converted tennis club. They had big, air supported plastic domes over the fields. I suppose you could do that for indoor.

Didn't someone post pictures from a supposed Mexican indoor league last year... where more than one team played outside? I recall a bullfighting ring being used in one instance...

This was actually not where the Palm Beach team was originally supposed to play. They had originally been set to play at the South Florida Fairgrounds and Expo center,,, INDOORS. However,, something happened with the "deal" and that venue fell through out or whatever. I do agree that the games really should be indoors in the NIFL but give Palm Beach a little credit for not skipping a beat and moving on to plan B. This change in venue just happened a couple of weeks ago and they are doing what it takes to make it work.
The Delray Beach Tennis Center is actually a huge place with more than 20 courts. It is host to several International Tennis tournaments ( well equipped to handle large crowds) and the stadium where the Arena games will be played actually seats 8,200 people. Picture the Wimbledon tennis tournament and you should get the idea,, it's not just " a big tennis court". It's not ideal,, not what was planned (originally games were to be played inside) but you know,, sometimes s*** happens and you have to move on and come up with an alternate plan. The games are at night so it shouldnt be that hot outside. If it rains they will get wet. Fans and teams of all kinds of sports play in much worse weather conditions than we usually have here in Florida. Lighten up people. Hopefully this venue will only be a temporary thing but if it isn't,, I'll still be going to the games. (-:

Man this is gonna be so confusing to the fans. I can just hear the announcer right now...
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Delray Beach Tennis Center on this gorgeous sunny day, certainly the type of weather you want for a great indoor football game."
I think the NIFL could get away with this if they became the NIFLTPOT...the National Indoor Football League That Plays Outdoors Too. But they probably wouldn't like to be called the "Niffle tea pot".

A lot of building managers are demanding bigger deposits these days to hold playing dates. That's what might have caused the original deal to fall through. The building managers probably looked at some of things that happened last year and wanted their jack up front.

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED...They WANTED MONEY UP FRONT>>>>I CAN TELL YOU IT MAY BE EQUIPPED FOR BIG CROWDS BUT THEY CERTANLY WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BIG CROWD SHOWING UP

Let's go Blitz!

Let's go Wranglers!

I followed both of these teams religiously back in the 80s when George Allen was the coach.

I wonder if they will keep the Tennis nets up during the indoor football game being played outside?

I am surprised the Jacksonville Stallions haven't thought of playing outside. They wanted the new downtown facility, but, from what I hear, the money they had to put up was way too much. Too bad this league doesn't play in the fall, then maybe a high school football team in the area would let the Jacksonville Stallions play at half-time, like they do with the Pee-Wee league.

The Eight-Man Football League in Illinois has 10 teams with only two of the teams playing indoors. One of the teams playing indoors is the Springfield Stallions (www.springfieldstallions.com) and they were hoping to eventually try to join one of the regular indoor leagues (UIF or NIFL). The city failed to get a team called the Springfield Slayers in the IFL and another in the NIFL around 2000-01.

Aren't there several semi-pro leagues like the Arizona League (9-man) that play with varying amounts of players. The San Antonio-based Sixman Association and the Pennsylvania Sixman League come to mind, but I don't know if they play indoor or outdoor. There is even a Five-Man League [www.geocities.com/fivemanfootball].

Bottom line. National Indoor Football League. Not Natinal, indoor but sometimes outdoor football league. If you can't provide a venue, which there are plenty in south Florida, then the league must step up and take a stand. Although we have already seen that they never do w/ the CSM fallout from last year. By the way, good luck Greensborough players. Hope you have better luck. I suggest you get paid in cash. And one last comment for the one "1" WPB fan.
"It may rain, and they may get wet" was quite possibly the most unbelievable quote I've read in here in almost a year. Funny thing, when you play INDOOR football, rain is not a factor. WPB may want to try a local semi-pro league until they can get it together.

I talked with my parents about the "Niffle tea pot"
They said Palm Beach should have waited a year like Jacksonville.

I saw the helmet pictures before they were removed. Very refreshing.......the USFL should've and would've succeeded if Donald Trump hadn't steered the league in a different direction. The NFL was rather stale at the time, but the USFL seemed to reinvigorate the longtime league with the fresh approach and different rules that were used in the USFL game. Not to mention that the USFL at the time seemed to be grabbing the majority of the young stars.

It was a great spring afternoon sitting in Mile High Stadium, watching Doug Flutie, Herschel Walker and the New Jersey Generals put up a great battle but losing to a very good Denver Gold team. Cold beer and a free Alabama concert right after the game made it the perfect afternoon.

I went back and removed them myself. Some message boards have a policy about linking pictures (stealing bandwidth) ...but my roadrunner provider said that's ok to link if there is no verbage stating not to link pictures at the website having those pictures. I probably should have left them. I'm too lazy to read this message board's rules and regulations about linking pictures.

I like watching spring intrasquad college football in the spring and summer months. The USFL turned that reality into a pro league.

Trump broke the salary cap. Everyone got paid the first year of play. The second and third year were a different story.

Steve Young had some $40 million dollar contract that was "guaranteed". I don't believe he ever got that cash. I remember him playing running back for one game because the league didn't want to spend more money subsidizing the LA Express in the process of signing new players for injured players in that 3rd and final year.

It was in Orlando -- Renegades vs. Express. Steve Young laughed about it.
