The 2006 NJIFL Rules are comprised of the best of ALL brands of football...11-man, 6/7/8-man, Outdoor/Traditional-Style and Indoor/Arena-Style.

The Rules' and Regulations' details include (but are not necessarily limited to)
TEAM FEE: Handled by each individual Team, a $595 Team Registration will be paid to the NJIFL @ the TRSC, and a $20 per game ref fee will be paid on a game by game basis. If a team forfiets, then due payable to the referees before their next game is a $40 forfieture fee.

-ROSTER SIZE: Up to 16 Players on a Team Roster...ALL PLAYERS ARE ACTIVE (NO "Reserve", or "Additional" Players...AND...there are NO Practice/Taxi Squad Players) All Rosters are due 1 week prior to each respective teams opening game. at the mid-season point, if a teams roster drops below 9 players, then they may be permitted to add two players at that time only and as the rule stipulates. No exceptions.

-FIELD SIZE: 50 Yards long (w/a 5-yard End Zone [approx.]) and 30 Yards Wide.

-PLAYING TIME: Four (4) 15-Minute Quarters w/a continuously running clock up to the LAST Minute of the 2nd & 4th Qtrs. Here, the clock may be stopped for:
-Incomplete Passes
-1st Downs
-Out of Bounds
-Change of Possesion
-Point-After Trys
Other Clock Stoppages during the course of the game at any point would be for:
-Injury Timouts
-Team Time-outs (3 per half*)
-Equipment Time-outs (subject to official discretion)

-GENERAL RULES: The NJIFL works within the basic parameters of NFL Rules. This applies to things such as: Blocking as an O-Lineman, and being able to use your hands INSIDE (there is no grabbing of arms, shoulders and sides of D-Linemen)...needing 2 feet in bounds, as a receiver, for a completed pass...being able to hit the ground, as a ball-carrier, but then being able to get up and continue so long as you were not "touched" to end the play...and so on.

-FIRST DOWNS: Mid Field Line

-4TH DOWN: There is No Punting in NJIFL Play. The Offensive team MUST go for the 1st Down or the Touchdown. This not a game of field possesion, the object is to score points and win. So definitively, you have 8 plays to go 50 yards, and score.

-POINT-AFTER TRYS: Successful Pass = 1 Point...Successful Run = 2 Points. P.A.T. plays will be run from the TWO (2) Yard Line. There is no kicked extra point in the NJIFL.

-LINEMEN (Off. & Def.): Three (3) Linemen on the line of scrimmage at ALL TIMES, before the snap.

-OFFENSIVE LINEMEN: Of the 3 Offensive Linemen, ONE (1) can be classified as an eligible-to-receive-the-ball "Tight End." This "TACKLE/T.E." Must be wearing an eligible number. In a situation were injuries may force a player with an ineligible number to play TE, then he may "Check in" with the referee, by raising his hand and indentify himself as the TE.

-DEFENSE: No Stunting, Twisting or outside-in CB/DB Blitzing. Period. Linebackers may blitz, but between the Offensive Tackles/Tight Ends ONLY

-CHOP BLOCKING: This is PROHIBITED. Period.
These rules are designed to be adjustable and modifiable as conditions and scenarios warrant. And, seeing as how the NJIFL is a growing league, there will be updates to the above rules and regulations...approved ONLY by the NJIFL Commissioner and/or the Board of Directors...on an "as-needed basis."
