Does anyone have an update on the proposed Southern Basketball League (or could be the Southern Professional Basketball League) that was supposed to start in 2006 with teams in the Mid-South? I believe the owner of the former Jackson Rage team in the WBA was moving to this league.

Also, I found another start-up called the Midwest Basketball League at www.leaguelineup.com/midwestbasketballleague. The league's first team is the Missouri Tornados based in Northwest Missouri; I believe in Maryville. I think the Topeka Riverrats might be part of this league too. The Riverrats were part of the Great Plains Basketball League, but their web site at www.thegpbl.com has not been accessible, so I don't know what has happened to that league.

The Midwest League and Great Plains Leagues were both stillborn.

One of the former teams of the proposed GPBL, the South West Oklahoma Lightning, has appeared in the standings of the American National Basketball League (ANBL) on the usbasket.com site. The only ANBL team playing any games as of now is the Georgia Gwizzlies and those appear to be against amateur competition.

The Topeka Riverrats web site at www.leaguelineup.com/topekariverrats had some GPBL info listed. Two other proposed teams were the Springfield (MO) Desperado and the Ark City (KS) Yellowjackets. The site mentioned a game scheduled in November against the South Arkansas Hoopsters, a team that is also listed on usbasket.com as part of the ANBL.

Is this league for real? I can't find a website for it.
Does anybody know where it is based out of and who would be the contact?

Are any of these leagues real? NONE OF THEM ARE REAL. They are run by guys with nothing in the bank, living out of an apartment and trying to fund their "dream" or "concept" for a league with tryout fees and franchise fees! At the best they are idiots, at worst they are crooks and con-men!!
