...on their website and on their commercial. Of course, their coach claims to be an Arena Football League alumn because he rattled around the af2 for a few games.
Do other AIFL teams go the "arena" route for advertising, too?

He forgets to include the part about "failed af2 kicker"...
But, yes, many indoor teams, especially new ones, will refer to their game as "arena football" with the local press, just because people are familiar with what it means.
But they have to be careful with that, since "Arena Football" is patented.

It's Jim Terry...he thinks he can do anything.
Except kick. Well, I guess he does think he can do that, too.

I know you can see 'arena' tossed around for name/brand recognition...on a small scale...but this is pretty blatant.
Also, check this out. Arena Football Team. http://bizbuysell.com/cgi-bin/addetail?J=bbs&p=1&ss=1&k=indoor%20football&tab=eb&q=182004

It would be especially funny to see them get a Cease and Desist from Mr. Baker in Chicago...
FWIW, I don't believe the team is for sale anymore. It has been reported here that they have a new owner.

I'm a little disappointed that the commercial goes that route. Since the AFL can make an issue of it, and if they want to maintain their trademarks do have to fight it or lose the term "Arena Football" to the general public.
But at least WTOV and the Herald-Star have done a good job of always referencing it as Indoor Football.

The AFL has already set a precedent of protecting the trademark "Arena Football". That's why all the other leagues call themselves, and refer to their game as "Indoor"
