From a Kansas City Star article this week on Joe "Jellybean" Bryant:

"As for coaching the Rattlers, Bryant said it was by accident. He went to the Las Vegas office for some other business and while he was there, they asked whether he was interested in coaching the team."

See, that's the kind of due dilligence that sets the ABA apart. If only one of you had been in Vegas that day, maybe getting married to a trampy pop star, you could have walked into the Rattlers' office (I find it hard to believe they have an actual office) and been hired on the spot.

Timing is everything.
