The only two venues I can see hosting minor league ball in Hammond are the Hammond Civic Center and the Hamond Armory. The Armory is too small, and I can't see them filling the 4,200-seat Civic Center, especially since the draw in nearby Gary is too small. If I hear anything new about this, I'll let you know.

She "saved and saved" for this opportunity to throw all her money down the drain. She obviously didn't learn much in her business courses. I'd flunk her out of my business school for getting involved with this group of Bozos. If the league is still around by then, I'd give this team three weeks at the outside.

Hammond (along with East Chicago, IN) are directly on the western border of Gary, Indiana. All three cities are close to the southside of Chicago, but Chicagoans will not support sports in Northwest Indiana. Nor will they support much of anything else in Northwest Indiana (except for the casino boats). It's a state of mind, "It's in Indiana therefore it must be far away". However, the southside of Chicago is actually closer to Hammond and Gary than many of the Hammond/Gary suburbs.
Denise Pulphus is sadly mistaken if she thinks Hammond's close proximity to the southside of Chicago will draw additional fans. Expect this team to draw only family and friends on average, then go away within a year.
