ABA RETURNS TO UTAH NEXT SEASON

07-Feb-2006
Indianapolis, IN -- The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the league would return to Salt Lake City, Utah next season, "and we couldn't be any happier," said ABA CEO Joe Newman. "Salt Lake City is a great city, a great basketball city - and it was a shame that we did not play there this year. We've found a new owner with a passion for basketball and a commitment to excellence and we have no doubt that Kenny Wamsley and his ownership group will maximize the potential of the market and make the team a great success."

Wamsley has a fascinating background, an interesting career and all of the ingredients it takes to make a team successful. His career path included working for Citadel Broadcasting (KFAN 1320), the home of the Utah Jazz. He was Corporate Sales Manager for three resort casinos in Mesquite, NV. He worked for Park City Marriott in Park City, UT, the home of the 2002 Winter Olympics and the Sundance Film Festival. And of course, he has a great basketball background having played on a full scholarship for Western Wyoming College under coach John Woods and finished with a B.S. degree with a 4.0 GPA.

Kenny's family also provides much support with a brother who is a financial consultant, another who is an attorney, and a father who owned Wamsley Engineering Company for 35 years.

Wamsley added, "Joe, as you can see, a lot of my background has really prepared me for an experience like owning a team in the ABA. I understand basketball and players, and broadcasting, and marketing and promotion, but most of all, I know Salt Lake City and Utah - and what it takes to be successful. I come from a family of seven kids; we have 27 nephews and nieces...my wife Tiffany and I have two kids; I served an LDS Church mission in Arcadia, CA - so I understand kids and the importance of community. This is a dream come true for the entire Wamsley family - and we are going to make the ABA proud."

A 4.0 or a 2.0? He must not be too smart if he's getting involved with the ABA.
