Or this nugget of wisdom -
Make sure that before you join a league, that your league president will guarantee you receive opponents for all your home games - including replacement opponents that will show up on the day of the game should your scheduled opponent fold / relocate / disband / get lost / not have enough players / leave their uniforms home / whatever other excuse Unca Joe comes up with.

You do that and you'd look too much like a professionally run organization.
Even better, require owners to post performance bonds equal to one year's operating expenses so teams don't fold in pre-season, mid-season, post-season. The main problem is you've got too many people who think they are Lamar Hunt, but have no money.
