Lincoln Thunder season

Does anyone have information on the status of this team??? I live in Lincoln and have heard nothing myself in the last 3 to 4 weeks. I do see on the ABA site, the Thunder have games with teams that are still in the league coming up soon...but is that accuract (sp) and will those games be played???

Supposedly the Thunder have left the ABA and have applied to join the USBL for 2006. The USBL season starts in April.

That would be great !!! Hope they can do it and I hope the core of the team will stay together. With teams right next door that was a good option from the beginning. Again...I hope it works !!!

Good Luck on that one... Lincoln won't support basketball based on the region. But that would mean you would need to do market reearch. But whats that right?

The Thunder "officially" suspended operations for the 2005-2006 a couple of months back. They announced they would return in 2006-2007, the Lincoln owner was seeking more teams in the region to allow for less travel costs.

What's happened since then is kind of perplexing. For a team that's "returning," they have dumped their website, the arena has dropped any reference to them from their website, and for all intents and purposes, it appears they are gone!

Professional basketball has never succeeded in Nebraska. The NBA, CBA and now the ABA have failed.
