Not to be confused with the Dallas/Fort Worth-based Regional Development Basketball League, the new Regional Basketball League plans to start play with at least ten teams in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and possibly New Mexico. www.regionalbasketballleague.ws

Just what we need, another start-up league with a multi-colored basketball. How bout we try working on stabilizing and gaining some credibility for our current leagues. This pheonomena of start-up leagues has only got to be in minor league basketball or indoor football.

Let's try working and stabilizing our current leagues of:
D-League
CBA
USBL
IBL
ABA
WBA

Respectfully, I disagree. If I have different ideas of how to run a league, and if I have learned from watching what has worked and what has not, if I have a good group of people advising me on major matters, why should I not take my best shot?

I'm aware of the problems the ABA and other leagues have faced, and i don't intend to make the same ones. I hope that I can bring a refreshing approach to not only running a pro basketball league, but also also the way leagues communicate with their fan base.

One piece of info: If you log on to http://www.regionalbasketballleague.ws, you can sign up for the drawing which will conclude on Feb. 12th. You can win one of three prizes.

Until next time, I wish you the best!

One one intends to fall like the other leagues, it just happens.

With all due respect, the reasons the other teams faild ws financial. To even consider starting a league you should have AT LEAST $5 million in working capital for marketing, travel for teams that find a way to come in undercapitalized, staffing, etc. Can you honestly state that you have $5 million in the bank to make this happen? Coming in and financing the league on franchise fees is a joke and recipe for disaster.

I think it's a great idea. If it a good solid effort. The IBL is doing fairly well but it has not expanded down into this market.

I think there is room for a well run league. So much has been slammed because of the ABA and it's not fair to assume that all start up basketball leagues will be like that.

Give Mac and company a chance. See what he can do before you start judging.

"Give Mac a chance?" Haven't we all done that with the other leagues? Especially the players and coaches not to mention the fans and sponsors? EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE LEAGUES FAILED BECAUSE OF NO MONEY. PERIOD. This owner should AT LEAST post a surety that he has a MINIMUM of $5 million to carry it through for the sake of the players, coaches and sponsors. He should AT LEAST show a net worth of $5 to $10 million!!!! MINIMUM. Hell, minor league baseball team owners have to show a minimum net worth of $3 million and up, this guy is starting a league. Can he AT LEAST give the players, coaches, and sponsors that level of comfort? $5 - $10 million is not too much to ask from a league owner.

Come on Chuck can't a guy have a dream. He'll get some money from tryout fees thinking that will tide him over until the season starts. He'll write some positive sounding press releases that may or may not get local play. He may even pull some publicity stunts.
Then when no one shows up to buy tickets -- oh, I'm sorry, that's the ABA/AAPBL formula for success. Never mind, just get the jack up front.

Agreed! These league owners and their pipe dreams end up hurting everyone but them. I am willing to bet this guy has got $500 in the bank, and will float this "league" with try-out fees, "Franchise" fees (if you can them that) and whatever sponsors he can pull together.Joke.

You have no idea who Mac has available to him for council, advise, and assistance as he works to put together this league. I do.
He may or may not pull this off, but I can tell you he is not out to take money from anybody. He has every intention do do what he is planning. If he finds that it appears unlikely to work, he will not proceed.
For anything to succeed, one must start with a plan. That plan will not be the plan that is ultimately used, it is just a starting point. To accomplish anything, one must start.
Mac has started and is adjusting when adjustments are found to be necessary.
Successful people are successful because they are able to surround themselves with people who have what they lack and people who have more of what the initial individual has some of.
This is not my opinion. I have been training with many the masters of business for more than three years now. If you ask, I can supply you with recommended reading which will help you learn to be truly successful at any worthwhile endeavor.

Just curious what is this guys business or basketball background. I clicked on him from another website and he is into the prepaid legal business. Wow! I guarantee he does not have the financial backing necessary to run this league.
