“Perhaps they simply had a bad business plan,” she surmised. “The league [which is not affiliated with the NIFL] was young and the product untested. I’m sure the ownership group did everything they could to make it work. We have a model that is tried and true and has proven to work in a variety of markets. We know that Greensboro is an excellent market for this sport and, speaking for both the ownership group and myself, are very excited to be here.”
All I can say is......LMFAO

Here in the NIFL, we have a model that has failed in more than 25 markets since 2001.

How many teams from the 2001 af2 season are still in af2?
I know the Lincoln Lightning pulled up stakes just a few weeks before their 2nd season in af2 and took off with everyone's ticket and sponsorship money.

Perhaps a better question would be, how many teams have gone away in af2 from 2001 on?

The NIFL is already in the lead.
The AF2 has folded 26 teams in 6 years..Following the 2005 season, 1 team folded, the San Diego Riptide.
36 teams have folded in the NIFL or moved in FIVE years...I'm not even going to try and count all the defections following the 2005 season...like 7 or something?
You can find complete historical standings, schedules, team summaries, and more at my site The Arena...www.angelfire.com/pa5/indoorfootball
Shameless plug I know.

Wait...what are you trying to argue precisely? That the more teams you kill the better the league you have? Geeze, it's like I stumbled into Joe Newman's brain here.
As far as I'm concerned, the NIFL and af2 are equally bush.

Wow you can't really compare the NIFL and AF2 like that. The AF2's only scandal was Quad City's cheating in the first two years. The NIFL has far more problems year in and year out. The AF2 has never folded or suspended a team in midseason, for instance. Or promoted a corrupt owner(like the NIFL and CSM) And my arguement is that the AF2 has folded fewer teams than the NIFL, I'm going to guess your comment was for ATR.
Again, all these leagues have problems, but the difference is, the NIFL is blatantly not fixing theirs.

IDK, this year looks to be an interesting one for the af2 as well. I'm still not convinced that Everett won't end up blowing up in the league's face this year.
The money pit that is Bakersfield is still around to cause problems.
Arenacup profits might bail out BCS, but that's only a might.
Amarillo has expressed displeasure at the costs of this league.
Green Bay looks like it still might lose money (mainly because they cut ticket prices so much)
RGV may get tired with being so isolated as well.
As for the cheating...well QC was the only team that got caught.

Not sure about Everett and Bakersfield...
I actually hope Bossier folds, as cruel as that sounds. The people down there could care less about the worst team in indoor/arena history...They have just been horrible from the start, on the field that is.
I have a source very close to the Amarillo team and from what I hear, they're only problem is their tiny Amarillo Civic Center.
Dunno about Green Bay and RGV...

I've heard from a pretty reliable source from within the IFL that the af2 Amarillo franchise is seriously considering rejoining the IFL after the 2006 season concludes. I also wouldn't be surprised to see RGV joining the IFL in the near future with the IFL Laredo franchise being right around the corner from them.

No, Joe Newman's league holds the record for most teams folded before playing a single game and for teams folding in the opening weeks of the season.
