Hello Everyone:p

Do any of you guys know:

Does the Steamers have a reserve team? What is the fully updated roster? Is their website updated?

The last major indoor team that I am aware of with a reserve team was the San Diego Sockers in the mid to late 1980s. They played both indoors and outdoors in various SoCal leagues.

I found the players list on the Steamers website in under a minute. Just go to their site and click on players. It gives a listing of everyone on the roster and includes the hometown.

This makes no sence at all! Why would the owner get rid of the team at the height of it's popularity. I mean, there were close to 10,000 people going to the games during the playoffs. I just can't believe that the owner decided to call it quits after such an outstanding year and I also can't believe that no one else decided to buy the team when the owner let it go.

Does anyone here know the REAL story on what happened with the Steamers? The whole thing seems quite fishy to me.

Hitting 10,000 for the championship game (a dubious 10,000 at that) is NOT the height of popularity for anything named MISL.

If St. Louis AVERAGED anywhere near that, they would still be around.

There is another core issue- the rent at Saavis / Whomever Paid For The Name Center was rather high, and rumors are that Dave Checketts (owner of the Blues) wasn't in the mood to knock it down for the Steamers. Folding apparently trumped the option of moving back to the suburban Family Center, which hasn't proven to be able to sustain any franchise.

Thanks Pounder. I knew there had to be a reason why this happened.

The Family Arena had the Otters for 6 years before they folded and now the Rage are moving over there. Lets see how the attendance is for them in 2007.

I don't know any other franchise in the MISL that hit 10,000 last year, so that's why I wrote that. I thought the Steamers lead the league in attendance last year or at least came very close to it.

I guess it just wasn't enough to pay that new fee. That really stinks for the Steamers and their fans like myself.

Many of us MISL fans hope that St. Louis returns to the fold in 2007-2008. Hopefully good news is coming.
