United League Baseball is planning to begin play in 2006. Formed by Byron Pierce and John Bryant, the founders of the Texas-Louisiana League, the United League currently has six cities on the slate for 2006: Harlingen, Edinburg, Laredo, Amarillo, San Angelo, and Alexandria, La.
If those cities all appear to have something in common, it's because they do. All six cities were formerly members of the Texas-Louisiana League.
The United League is led not only by Pierce and Bryant, but also the Wendt brothers, who operate the Frontier League's Mid-Missouri Mavericks - which recently announced the franchise will go dark for the 2006 season while looking to secure a new ballpark.
