Houston would beat an all-star team using both of these squads.
But I guess the Venom will be the second best team in the league.

Is the LSFL really calling this the championship game? When the best team in the league walks out at mid-season, it leaves a huge hole in the creditability of the league. I get that someone has to be crowned champion and Amarillo seems to be likely choice. The upcoming game should be more appropriately referred to as the "Sloppy Seconds Bowl".

The LSFL DH (Durring Houston) and AH (After Houston) one thing is clear the rest of the teams were very competive with one another. I expect the Championship game to be the same.

Houston exposed the problem with these leagues. The bigger the city you have = the more quality unemployed football players living nearby = the fewer people who actually care to watch them play. The only way around it is for small town teams to sneak money under the table to get talent from around the country, but that violates necessary salary cap rules.
This is the third time I tried to follow a Houston team in the SIFL/LSFL. The first fell apart in mid-season under truly wretched conditions, the second lied like hell and failed to show up for its premiere, the third had no place to play for months, won every regular season game it played, and still collapsed in mid-season. I just don't see a point in being a fan of a team under the sport's current model. Since the AFL and AF2 models also failed in Houston, there's no place left to go.

Guy's Houston doesn't even need to be mentioned in this equation since the coach was paying players above and beyond the league cap. The playing field for all the other teams was uneven as a result. When the owner found out all the crap that had been going on behind the scene's and the mess that the Coach and GM had created he had no recourse; but, to pull the plug.
The other teams in the LSFL played within the guideline's set; so, the best team " Amarillo "won plain and simple. Houston cheated and got caught... when they had to shut down there were certain players shopping their service's to the highest bidder that very day...

Yeah Amarillo won but the league lost! Only 500 people showed up to see the league championship in one of the "New" expansion cities. This is a farce, the fans in Amarillo should have been allowed to host the game, they would have gotten more then 500 people out to the game. Joke!

It's sad that they were only able to pull in 500 people. if it had been in Amarillo or if it had been between 2 West Texas teams out in San Angelo it easily would have drawn 3k plus. But if this if they are able to have a better year than this year than this is only a blip on the radar over all.

Guy's there were 1,500 in attendance at the game. The reporter from Amarillo had a typo, I was at the game.
Feel free to ask any questions.

so what is the plan for expansion, how many teams in the league looking at?

Outside of San Angelo I really don't know right now. Where would you like to see teams placed? Although I am the webmaster I really can't say, though you would be surprised at the number of existing teams from other league's applying for membership. This is a 3-4 month process I would imagine; so, you are probably looking at November for a concrete lineup of teams for 2013 season.
I can tell you that the teams they do bring in will have been vetted pretty extensively... and before you mention Mesquite, the Owner didn't disclose that Uncle Sam was in the process of knocking on the door though I had my doubts when I was in the process of trying to develop the website for them. The Mesquite outfit was totally unprepared and behind the 8-ball from the onset.
Come on guys they just got through playing the Championship Game... LOL
I hope this answers some of your questions...

Lew I am not going to argue with you about the game plain and simple. The game was not a debacle. Were you there? Nope, I was. Could they have done some things differently, you betcha and they will in the future. If you have any relevant questions I will do my best to answer them for you.
Trey
As I stated previously you would be amazed at the teams that are interested in joining the LSFL ( by the way from my source's the IFL is history- as usual with indoor football this should be an interesting off season of movers and shakers ).

Other than the Allen Wranglers, what existing teams from other leagues are in Texas?
Or is this not going to be a Texas only league anymore?
treyingeorgia
07-24-2012, 11:17 AM
...from what I've been told the footprint will still be a league of Texas based teams. This was my 2nd visit out to Texas this past weekend, damn that state is big. If you look at a map of the state there are probably 2 to 3 cities that they might expand to ( San Angelo not included since already announced ) for the upcoming season first and then they might expand at some point in a neighboring state; but, don't hold me to it.
I really can't confirm this other than this should be an interesting off-season.

Trey,
Even if you were there, your opinion is bias. I'm just going off of what was reported by legitimate reports from reporters covering game, not a employee or their webmaster. 500 or 1500 is less then half of what the game would have pulled in Amarillo. The pre-game practice report was from the reporter from Amarillo, not me. Do you think it was proper for the teams not to have warm-ups? Hands down you deliver the best web presence for them compared to any of the other leagues, BUT the LSFL product and motives beyond that is suspect.
Perfume on a turd (The Championship) is still a turd.
Congrats to the Amarillo Venom!

My referral to the LSFL championship game as the "Sloppy Seconds Bowl" seems quite appropriate to me.
1. The league has to nullify the membership of one of its invited teams before a down is played (Mesquite).
2. It was never really clear what was going on between Kramer and Dittman in terms of the ownership of Rio Grande Valley and Corpus Christi.
3. Kramer pulls the plug on the best team in the league (Houston) in mid-season.
4. The LSFL holds its first championship game at a neutral site???? Ridiculous!
My comment was more about the manner in which the league was run this season, in a word, it was SLOPPY. And there is no denying that Houston was a superior team to both Amarillo and Rio Grande Valley. No offense intended for Amarillo, it was not necessarily their fault, but it was a game for SECOND place in a very sloppily run league. In light of Lew's comments, maybe I should have called it the "Toilet Bowl".

Congrats to the Venom. They truely turned that team around after having a slow start several moves were made and they finished the season strong.
Come on... I'm not sure I would put much weight in what super dave henry has to say in his comedy routine. So the kickers did'nt get to kick, so what they are just waterboys with pads.

...guy's for a 1st year venture yes they could have done things differently which I mentioned a couple of posts ago. I know some have commented about Houston--- they were cheating and circumventing the salary cap overpaying players...
Dittman owned all 3 teams ( not Kramer ) until he sold the Laredo Franchise last month. I think the reason there were no warmups was due to the fact that the league put on 3 concerts before the game and had to clear the field. ( yes in hindsight they should have been allowed to warmup prior-- which I would imagine would be the case next year )
Any other questions and I'll do my best to answer them for you.
Vinny do you not remember the days of the NIFL- well I do.... travel teams..cancellations et all...

Darlene earned a mulligan or two in my book for dealing with Tommy and Dittman ALL these years.
Everything was/is correctable.
Trey, not bad. PIFL had you, but if Dane's around, you'll be fine in the long run.
Lew, I've been meaning to ask you this question for years: When did you realize that electric had to be the stupidest childhood boy's toy of our generation?
And Vinny, saw hello to your mother for me...

@Dan, I still have not realized it! I own 4 Video Game stores and would still rather sit down in front of my board then play on my TV. Half the fun is painting the teams and I of course recreated a better system of play. Still stuck in the 60's my friend. And I'm the best commissioner their is, NONE of my leagues or teams have ever folded or moved, EVERY scheduled game has been played, NO games have ever been played by replacement players, and we have never had a work stoppage because of a STRIKE! LOL this post made my day! Thanks for asking!

P.S.: PM me a link so I can purchase some of my son's video games from you. Two reasons: 1) You deserve my business and 2) Since I would be a customer, that would make me always be right....

To further derail this thread, it there anything better than a top loading NES and Super Tecmo Bowl? I once ran Bo Jackson for 1099 Yards... in a single game...
