Yet another new A-Puck league!

Apparently there is a new league on the Canadian East Coast called the Canadian Elite Hockey League made up of cities that the LNAH has been eyeing for expansion and the AHL have left behind. They just signed the legendary Link Gaetz to play for the St. John Scorpions. Here's the link:

They have already played quite a few games and look really organized. Here's hoping they can make something good happen out in the maritimes as my anger management can't handle more complete trainwrecks.

This league is considered Senior AA Hockey and not a pro league, as far as I know. There is some good info on it at hockeyfights.com. But as far as I know they are not considered full pro.

It's Saint John, not St. John-
The league is Senior-AAA.

The Dartmouth team is owned by Harold MacKay and the Trailer Park Boys.

The Summerside team almost folded 3 or 4 times.

The fan support seems to be getting lower each game in everywhere except Saint John.

I've gone to all of Dartmouth's home games so far.

Dartmouth's home rink was one of the 2 rinks that hosted the 2004 World Women's Hockey Championships.

How can you hate on a league with owners who star in Trailer Park Boys? (The greatest Canadian TV show ever!) A-Puck is in desperate need of characters like that. For those of you who didn't know, the old Rantzilla site of mine's Lahey Of The Month was named in honor of Mr. Lahey, the main antagonist on TPB!

I'm not going to knock this thing, too many interesting characters involved.

I will say this about the IceFox, any resembelance to the IceFox that started the season seems to be purely coincidental. It's nice to see a team that looked like such a bad joke, get their crap together like they have. Hopefully this can be seen as a sign that you CAN turn things around when it doesn't go very well right away.
