View Full Version : new indoor league
Does anyone have any info or website address about a league called the National Alliance Soccer league that is to begin in December. The new Mexico Storm has Denver, Vegas and Wichita on their schedule.

Wichita had a team in some league of that sort last year (the Gunners). They weren't pro that I was aware of. I never got to see them play, but their roster was full of ex-area college players (a couple of ex-Wichita Wings). They played at a local indoor soccer complex as opposed to an arena.
They played in the Premeir Arena Soccer League www.arenaleague.com. Other teams they played included Tulsa, Tyler, Rockwell (I don't know where that is) and Lubbock.
I Googled the New Mexico Storm and came up with an American Indoor Soccer League at www.aisl.org but that league didn't look too organized. League dues are just $250 + two size 5 balls a game and home team pays the refs. The scoring is the same as the old NPSL (1 pt. power play and penalty shot, two points regular goals and three points behind the arc.)
Just four teams are listed with play beginning in December and ending in March. The teams are Massachusetts Twisters, Cincinnati Excite, Detroit-Windsor Border Stars and the Chicago TBAs.

Man, I live in the Arkansas Ozarks. We have a small town here but soccer rules. This would be a perfect fit in 2007. We are right on the Arkansas/Missouri border near Branson, Missouri.
If it don't cost anymore than that to join the AISL I will lease a warehouse and convert it over to a soccer arena.
We have some great players here.

I think the New Mexico Storm left the AISL because of the travel involved in that league as it tried to develop on a national basis. The AISL had teams in Massachusetts, Cincinnati, and Windsor (Ontario) along with New Mexico last year and I don't think they had that many new markets to add this year.
As for the NASL, I found an article dated 11/13/05 in the Rio Rancho Observer that gave some info about the league. The league had four teams as of now--Dallas Tornados, Phoenix Inferno, Las Vegas Saturn, and New Mexico Storm. The schedule was to run from 12/9/05 to 2/26/05.

The Phoenix Inferno debuted Saturday night in front of 400 fans in Phoenix. From what I am reading, the AISL has teams that can average 1,000-2,000 a game while the Premier League has teams that average 400-600 a game. Do players in either the AISL or Premier League get paid, and if so, how much? The Premier League has a great website with rosters and team ifnormation and according to them have placed several players into the upper levels of indoor soccer.

The word on Bigsoccer is that there's no league. This doesn't help any.

They've got a Wichita on their schedule, but I'm not aware of any Wichita team around except the aformentioned one above. There doesn't seem to be a league here. It just looks like the Storm found a few teams to play.
(Maybe the should suspend operations and get a low-level league organized).

The New Mexico Storm posted a message canceling their planned December 9th match with the Las Vegas Cosmos (www.newmexicostorm.com). From the tone of the team's message, I got the impression that the NASL was on hold for now, as the Storm said it would try to regroup--whatever that means.
Albuquerque also has a 2005-06 PASL team called the New Mexico Banditos. The PASL claims to be the MISL's developmental league.

I just found out about the Premier Arena Soccer League recently and I actually have spoken to two of the CA owners/managers. New Mexico will play in the S Cal/Baja division. The manager of the San Diego Fusion is extremily cool and I should be seeing some of their games in January.
Most of those teams in this league don't have websites so it's hard to follow them.
