I think Halifax's number is from earlier in the season. I could be wrong.

It would be good to see all the teams return.

Halifax leads the league in attendance.
Quebec is last in the league in attendance.

Halifax only fills 28% of their venue.
Quebec fills 50% of their venue.

Im happy to hear the salary cap is gonna rise. That'll attract more high flying, action packed players to the league.I see good things in the future for basketball in Canada.

I remember Halifax had a reported 8,422 fans in the stands for a preseason game so I figured they would average well over 3k a game. Was that preseason game heavily papered with free tickets (or even reduced price tickets) to give the locals a taste of the action?

Just wondering, attendance figures are always a fun subject in minor league sports. :-)

I'm not sure if that Halifax preseason game was a paper house, but I know that Oshawa had a game a few weeks back where Rogers had purchased all tickets and gave them away....bringing their season average up to 1,188...

That game was a free ticket give away from Rogers, but wasn't counted in the attendance numbers since it was pre-season. I am surprised that Halifax's average isn't in the 3200-3500 range this year, but Halifax has always had an uphill battle when it comes to attendance and I can't ever imagine more than a 4,000 person per game average (and even that is unlikely and far away).

Are Oshawa counting the ticket give away as part of these attendance numbers? If so are they counting attendance or tickets bought? (I.e. Rogers bought all the tickets even if only 15% were given away to customers who showed up?)

I know its not counted, had people actually paid for the game then I would of expected a higher attendance, now it makes more sense to me.

And I have always said "official" attendance should be "paid" tickets. Regardless if they are used or not.

I think Oshawa counted the Rogers game towards their total attendance/average. Technically it was a sell out, I guess. Pretty weak on the part of the fans in Oshawa though.

Summerside had 4,017 last Monday night against Quebec City. No gimmicks or promotions that i'm aware of.

On Friday night, London had a franchise record 3,733. Summerside also had a franchise record of 4,064 for their final home game of the season.

Word is to expect a very large crowd at tomorrow afternoon's Lighting game against Summerside. I'll be there. :-P

That is definitely encouraging. Nice to see that attendance is fairly evenly distributed among all the teams. For me, the biggest surprise is Summerside. Considering the small population on PEI, they have received incredible support.

)Summerside isnt even the biggest town on PEI we took a vacation up there about 6 years ago and its a small town. Wikipedia (ya I know) has it pegged at 14500 for population. Now it was busier in the summer, but this isnt summer.........

The NBL seems to have a beachhead best if luck to them
