Are you referring to the South Coast League or possibly the South States League? The South Coast League was recently announced with headquarters in Bluffton (SC), near Savannah. I have not heard much about the South States League recently.

That may be possible.....is this the first year of this league? Do you know if there are some teams already working on forming their rosters?

I also think the Peach State League may be alive, as it was mentioned last week on the Baseball Digest site. I believe the South Coast and Peach State leagues were both going after the Albany, Georgia market.

Are these leagues supposed to be "independent" like the CanAm and Atlantic Leagues?

The Web site is: http://www.southcoastleague.com/

Macon, Ga., is rumored to be courting both the South Coast and Peach Belt.

The leaders of the South Coast have said they can break even with 650 fans per game - a number that sounds scary low to me.
