Perhaps the title of this thread garnered a little extra attention after the PBL (Donaghy) experience. In any case, the NBLC announced today that Mike Homsy from the Montreal area has been hired as Director Of Officials. Great hire by the league. Very experienced int'l official, incl Olympics and World Championships. Not only an expert on both FIBA rules and the Cdn officiating personnel but also a man of very high ethical standards - critical after what transpired the last couple of years in the PBL.

I precict that under his direction, discussions of officiating in the NBLC will revolve solely around the on-court performance of Mike's staff, rather than questions about impartiality, owner's influence, and other issues that dogged the PBL officiating regime.

Good luck to Mike and the NBLC!

I would guess his most pressing issue is finding enough quality officials in the Maritimes to service, potentially, 4 pro teams in addition to the 14 university teams in the area (7 men's/7 women's) - a daunting task, indeed!
