Frontier League: The group that purchased the Frontier League's dormant Oakland County (MI) Cruisers franchise is trying to work out a deal to renovate an existing ballpark in Clawson (MI) as the team's home. The team would like to start play in 2012. The previous ownership had been trying to build a new 4,000-seat ballpark in the Waterford Township, but was unable to obtain financing. The league would like to add future teams in other markets such as Sandusky (OH) and Greensburg (PA), near Pittsburgh.

With Schaumburg now set to join the FL next season, the league is probably very anxious to get another warm body to balance things out and avoid the expense of a road team, even if it involves the use of a very small facility, which is what it would have to be in Clawson. If not that, someone else may be ready to depart. Any candidates?

the aa ? however the fl may be using this policy regarding expansion of desperate times call for the same measures as for possible departing nines id look at the 2 eastern most clubs of the east division which imo is a travel mess

According to Miles Wolff, Schaumburg has backed out of whatever agreement they had with the AA, and is going to go with the FL, which offered better terms. And he sounded none to pleased about how that all panned out. The Schaumburg ownership may have just used the AA to get better leverage from the FL, which I believe is where they really wanted to be all along. Or maybe they are seeing the numbers with Joliet and realize the need to go with the less expensive option given the current market conditions, which are without a doubt tough.

im not really suprised by the aa defections as the atlantic league needs markets to establish is far west division . as for schaumburg that southern travel in a class aa loop is probably too much of a strain on the pocketbook . speaking of strains on the pocketbook imo the fl is looking at filling in the gaps of travel in its east division even harder now if it is to add schaumburg to the fold

I really hoped that Schaumburg would join the AA to renew its rivalry with Gary. I really miss the Gary/Joliet/Schaumburg rivalry.

due to traffic and parking concerns or is it really $$$ concerns

Traffic and parking would have been the least of their problems. I think this Clawson deal was the case of some city council member and/or local business man getting an idea, and then reality setting in when what's actually involved is laid out.
