View Full Version : Dakota Wizards Chicago camp, what gives?

I am very dismayed as to why the Dakota wizards would run a camp in Chicago, and do such a terrible job with it. 50 players cannot possibly be fairly evaluated in two hours. Then the camp began an hour late because the coaches were late. bryan notree, assistant coach trots in an hour late, the whole thing was disorganized from the start. (never has a Rockford Lightning camp started late, or ever been disorganized).
Then on Saturday you put 50 players on one floor for two hours? I think any 5th grader could figure out that was not a workable situation. Its clear they didn't really want to sign anyone, they wanted to make money.
I talked to a lot of the players and agents there, they were very upset. Another black eye for the CBA, this time from dakota.
Maybe the league commissioner should ask dakota why they scammed these people!

Bryant Notree is from Chicago. That's why he held a camp there.
Kind of like last year when Coach R. Thomas attempted to hold a camp for the Rockford Lightning across the street from where the Steelheads play in Gary. Yes, it was so well organized that the camp had to be switched to East Chicago, Indiana at the last minute for obvious reasons. :P

First of all Ken, I don't care where dakota runs a camp, they can run one in Iraq for all I care. my point is, it was very disorganized. Secondly, so notree is from chicago, so whats your point? He still should not run scam camps. As far as Rockfords camp last season, well your lazy coaches in Gary would not run a camp for the players in your area. Many kids from the gary, east chicago area, come all the way over to Rockford to get a look, so Rockford felt they could help save those guys some travel money by doing a camp in their area, since their local team (Gary)did not care about their local players.
Now, as far as dakota saying they are going to sign players from the Chicago free agent camp, that is a bunch of crap. Thats why, when asked by the Bismark Tribune who they were, they would not name the players, because they didn't even have enough court time to properly evaluate 50 players. So Bliss has started off his pro career coaching, where he left off in college, not telling the truth.

I see the wizards just signed some players. Funny, I did not see those guys at the chicago (scam) camp. Oh well, I guess it takes time to print up all those contracts. I know some players that are waiting for their contracts from the wizards, since they said they were going to sign five players from the (scam) camp.
And now they have the nerve to run more scam camps.
Bliss has such a great eye for talent, I mean five minutes on the court for these guys and five contracts. Can't wait to see the press release on the five chicago players. WOW, first the Mtv Nike Battleground team, now the wizards making stars of our chicago free agent campers. What more could we ask for, Chicago?

Well all those players from the chicago free agent camp that dakota promised five players would be invited to vets camp, are all still waiting their invite.
I know they must be organizing all those flight arrangements.
I cant wait until next week to see which ones they selected.
I know bliss would never lie, he promised!!

not so fast, get over it! What did you expect the Wizards to do, carefully expect each individual player? I understand it would have been nice if the camp was more organized, but if you want to actually make a CBA team, you had better show something in the short time you had. Should the Wizards just give a roster spot to every chump off of the street that pays $150? You really need to just let this go, nobody cares what you think!

first of all mr so-called cbafan, I am only repeating what the dakota lizards said. If they are going to publicly tell people that we are going to sign five players from this camp, and tell it in front of the players and agents in attendance at their bogus camp, then THEY should honor what they said, or be held accountable. The fact is people travelled a long way in some cases, paid more than just 150 dollars, how about hotel and travel costs. Only to be lied too.
Secondly, of course I don't xpect then to sign every player that comes to camp. But you have a responsibility to at least attemt to put on an appearance like you are really looking at the players. Its only right. It makes the whole CBA look bad when people run scam camps mr. so-called cbafan.
So get your facts straight when you you try to lecture me on anything. You dakota people never change always thinking your guys can do no wrong. And go check your dakota paper and read wht bliss said if you don't want to believe me.
The dakota lizards really need to clean their act up, they just got caught and I attend to keep holding them accontable, since you are to gutless to call them on their lies!!!!!

You need help man! Seriously, what is wrong with you? This is minor league basketball, every team has try-outs where it costs money to participate and any good franchise usually will not sign many (if any) of the players that show up. The fact is, if you are an aspiring professional basketball player and you are not good enough to get invited to vet. camp, then this is your only shot and don't expect too many CBA teams to waste more than 2 hours on watching you play! Yeah, I read what coach Bliss said and guess what, "I don't care." Maybe he does intend to sign some of those guys, I don't even know who was there. But nothing is guaranteed in minor league sports! Should the Wizards send guys that were just cut from the NBA, like Billy Thomas and Kasib Powell, home because some bum thinks he should make the team because he paid $150?
Finally, why do you have to be so negative about everything? Didn't you say something along the lines of boycotting the CBA because Jason Williams was playing with the Stampede? If you are going to ***** about every little thing, then maybe you should boycott the league, the CBA doesn't need you! Oh, and good luck holding the "Lizards" accountable, hahahaha. I guess I’m too gutless to call the team out on their lies, but I’m not too gutless to call you out on being a little whinny *****.

Would you “Please” lighten up :) :D if I tell you something? :( Sorry but it is not a “Press Release” that you so adamantly desire, but free agents attending the Chicago camp were signed byr the Dakota Wizards… at least for now anyway.

Transactions from 2005
10/28/2005 - Damion Dantzler
11/4/2005 - Dexter Young,
11/7/2005 - Chris Alexander
Pending - Damond Williams (last played in Mexico and I understand they are not the quickest when it comes to providing release paperwork).
We watched them play in the green/white scrinnage, at the Bismarck High School gym Thrusday night (11/10/05). Damond was also there but, had not been cleared to play.
4 of 5 were signed by the Wizards and which is 80% of what may have been said. "Accountability" :P
Oh well :-) Have a good one :D

Those players were not at the chicago camp, I know I was there. Secondly, I am so glad all of you dakota lizard fans are back. I was wondering where you guys have been? Now lets see, you fired a young sucessful coach in Casey Owens, and you hire the most controversial coach in the country.
Tell me is joerger that powerful in dakota that he can run the skyforce and the lizards? I mean its clear that joerger did not like Owens, and now owens is fired after a great season.
Great job of reasearching my quotes. Tell me, did you research some of coach Bliss quotes while he was at Baylor?

Sorry to dig up the past, but this one caught my attention and I just can't ignore it. Obviously the season with Bliss sucked almost entirely, but why the f*ck were you acting like such an *sshole? Childishly making fun of the team name, acting as if it was the fans' fault for everything...had I been on this board during that time, you wouldn't have heard the end of it!
I always thought the firing of Casey Owens was one of their biggest mistakes, but I stuck by them because they were my team. The season was a disappointment, but doesn't every team hit rock bottom at least once in their existence? Plus, it all worked out in the long run. Bliss resigned and the Wizards brought back Joerger. They got rid of almost the entire staff responsible for the Bliss hiring and brought in a whole new crew. And look now, they are 2007 NBA D-League Champions!
Griping about a team because of a free agent camp, I've never heard of something so stupid! Also, you spelled Bismarck wrong.
And Rockford who?

I saw this topic a while ago and I thought I should reply, but I never did. Everything Eric said is right.
As a Wizards fan, I choose to forget that year and remember '01, '02, '04, and '07. Who cares what Bliss did here? It has nothing to do with our organization.
