Is this the same team that played in the NIFL, that didn't finish out the season?

I was under the impression that the league negotiated arena deals and then found team ownership after the fact. If that is the case, why is this a road team? Why wouldn't they match this ownership group up with one of the pre-arranged arena deals? Even if the ownership wanted to ultimately place the team in the NY/NJ area, it seems like it would be better to place the team somewhere this season and then relocate it once they had secured an arena there. That would give another potential ownership a foothold in that area to build off of once this franchise relocated. The "road team" idea makes me think they are in just to make 6 teams, which many see as a benchmark number for a legit league.

I plan on being a Port Huron Pirates fan until/unless a team comes closer to home. Much like I was a Port Huron Border Cats & Beacons fan until the Motor City Mechanics came along. I had read something on the GLIFL message board about Fraser as a possible site because the UHL played there. Unfortunately, it would never work. The ceiling at GLSC-Superior (the Mechanics home) is way to low for indoor football, and the scoreboard is not movable. The ball would end up hitting the scoreboard, probably several times a game.

the GLIFL did make arena deals...however if they had ownership form another area they were not going to turn them down. They will play home games in 2007, i guess they couldnt secure an arena deal with the arena they really wanted.Becuase throughout NY/NJ there are MANY arenas.

Considering where the other teams in this league are currently located. This NJ team doesn't have a shot in hell of making it. Travel cost will be horrific. Why wouldn't they just wait until 2007 to play? Maybe at that point the travel would make A LOT more sense.

^ well the team is located in NY,NY.....and if you look at some of the teams they arent that far from them...Example, Lehigh Valley, Rochester, etc.So travel wouldnt be THAT bad.
