Anyone knows if there is still plans for a "WHA" (the real league) to begin play in the next few years?

I e-mailed the league and asked, but never got an answer!

No, it's still kicking. According to their website, they are trying to launch a super-junior league in the hockey hotbed of Florida.

Evidently the WHA2 failure hasnt deterred this merry band of idiots. They are going to take a lower calibre game to the same area.

that is true...but the try outs looked cheap and it looks so phoney! But I hope that I am wrong

The WHA web site had some scores posted for two of its teams called the Tampa Bay Sharks and the Daytona Blazers. Their competition was two teams from the Southeast Junior Hockey League, which I believe is at the C-level of junior hockey and is starting only its second season with teams in Florida.

But that's still not the major challenge to the NHL that was promised. They couldn't start a major league and didn't have the business acumen to run a minor league.
Anyone involved in this should now and forever be banned from any sport at any level.
