If you EVER read a quote from a team owner or prospective franchsie buyer which states a variation on this theme - "I'm not in this to make money, I just want to support the community" - the team WILL fold within two years.
If someone buys a business, they don't do it to "support the community", they do it to make money. The support of the community comes from making a profit, growing the business and employing people.
The next quote you will invariably hear from a team owner that makes the above comment will be something like "The city never supported this team; the corporate community really let us down".
With the ABA/AAPBL/insert random league here dishing out franchises like candy, we are going to hear comments like this far too often.
