ECHL HAS TO CHANGE IT'S NAME, maybe Extreme Class Hockey League. Stockton, there logo looks like the Portland Thunder of the 75's World Football League, yuh ? Robbie Young aka Martin Truex

The ECHL goes by the name ECHL (not East Coast Hockey League) and has since it bought out the West Coast Hockey League 3 years ago. There was talk of changing the name then, but it was the decided that the league had established to much brand awareness in the ECHL name.

The Stockton Thunder logo looks vastly different from the Portland Thunder logo to me.

But don't let that stop you in your quest to find more minor bush leagues. Allow me to point you in the direction of a couple. www.abalive.com

How about calling it the Everywhere we Care to be Hockey League? The way travel costs are going to be this season, thanks to the explosion of gas prices, it might be the Everywhere we Can find a can of gas for our bus Hockey League. I'd hate to be the GM of the Alaska team this season.
I'll bet after the end of this season, the ECHL will be operating four to six mini-leagues during the regular season with little if any inter-conference or inter-division play until the playoffs.

That's already the case IMO.

You'll probably note that there probably aren't enough "solid" teams in any current ECHL division to warrant actually separating the ECHL into separate leagues... that's one reason they are where they are right now.

Oh, memo to Martin, as a native Portlander... huh?
