It's too bad that some owners of teams feel so threatened by an amateur teams that they need to involve referees to win the game. I have just returned from watching the most blatnet display of this with the tacoma Stars.
Examples of what happened tonight is not good for the sport nor soccer in general. I have been involved with soccer for over 24 years now and never have I ever witnessed anything like what happened tonight.
When a referee sees a foul happen directly in front of them and then flags the opponent even though the opponent was hit and pushed to the ground by the Home team, there is something wrong in Manhatten I think. The Stars are a good team but tonight they felt threathened by a group of amatuers and the Stars or the Stars owner had to have the referees win the game for them. Fouls were called for no apparent reason against the opponent..two minutes time outs were routinly handed out to the opponents for again no apparent reason other than to question a call made, while the stars were able to have calls reversed in their favor.
If this is what Pro Indoor soccer is all about then I feel the sport is doomed to failure. We will see if this team (the Stars) can prevail in San Diego with out the home referees to assist them.
