Just wanted to note that Brian Lubeck of Great Lakes was named CBA Player of the Week...

Anybody who discounts the quality of play in the USBL compared to the CBA or NBDL, note this...

Brian Lubeck was the eleventh man on an eleven man squad last summer in Dodge City. I couldn't be happier for him because he was playing five minutes a game for us and never *****ed about it...used to joke about it though!

Brian, with all the run you are getting in Great Lakes, you must owe Coach a LOT of dinners!

I couldn't be happier for you!

I am glad you are happy for him.

He worked himself into a good player now that the coaches have given him a chance to show his skills.

Why did'nt the Dodge coach recognize this and give him a chance?

He probably did not fit in at Dodge and now fits in Great Lakes? This happens all the time in minors. Let's thank the USBL for helping him develope in practice last usbl season by letting him hang on as 11th player on 11 man roster. Also sounds like he developed patience, which should be invaluable in the future.

Because when you are a rookie looking for an opportunity and you make a team of veterans and the team posts a 28-5 record and wins the championship...you wait for your opportunity.

Brian was asked by a coach of a USBL team if he would like to leave us and go to them because he would get more playing time...He told them that he was happy where he was because he was learning more sitting on the bench...and winning...

He learned to play three positions...and got a championship ring...

I'd doubt he would regret his time in Dodge City.

Thanks for the inside info TEN.

I did not know those details. I agree most rookies have to pay some dues.

My point was geared to how players that seem to be no good one place can turn out to be much better someplace else due to many, sometimes unknown, factors.

It's partially from what the Rock says in wrestling: "Know Your Role"

Brian had some good games for the Legend as well as all of the other players on the team.

The two years the Legend won the USBL title, it was because everyone knew what their role was on the team and did it. The year they lost to the ValleyDawgs, the players decided to do their roles and that led them to the championship game.

TEN...I do still remember you talking about "Who is Brian Lubeck?" the first time we mentioned him. I guess he left his mark on who he was. LOL
