CRUSH TO KICK OFF INAUGURAL PASL SEASON SUNDAY
Coach, players ready for first-season challenges

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Evansville Crush, brought to you by Jagoe Homes, will kick off their first season in the Premier Arena Soccer League against the Paducah Wildcats Sunday, Dec. 5 in Paducah. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Crush players are going into the season confident after a strong pre-season showing, which included title wins in the inaugural Hoosier Cup and Turkey Bowl. With several wins against fellow PASL teams under their belts, the team is eying the league championship, starting with a victory against the Wildcats.

“The pre season has given us a great chance to test ourselves, see where our strengths and weaknesses are,” said Crush forward Adem Ali. “Now we can go into the season confident in each other and that we can get some wins.”

All of the PASL championship winners to date have been teams from western divisions, and Crush Head Coach Andy Hines hopes his players can break that trend in their opening year.

“It may be our first season, but we have a good team. We’ve already faced other strong PASL teams, so we have a sense of what to expect from the teams in the league. It won’t be easy but we know we can make an impression on the league,” Hines said.

The Crush will also begin competition in the US Open Cup by heading to Louisville, Ky., Saturday, Dec. 10 for a match against the Lightning at 8 p.m.

“We’ve already had some great games against the Lightning so were looking forward to facing them again and coming away with a win,” said Ali.

The Crush’s home opener will kick off Saturday, Dec. 11 at Metro Sports Arena in Evansville. That night will be SWISA night and any member of the SouthWest Indiana Soccer Club who wears their team jersey will get into the game free with a paid adult admission. Also, the first 50 fans that show up will receive a free Crush T-shirt, courtesy of McCullough Auto Parts.

Season passes for the 2010-11 Crush season are still available for $25 for adults and $20 for kids, 8 years old and younger. The passes will cover admission to all PASL league home games and any non-league-exhibition game the Evansville Crush plays.
