Did anyone read that press release about the Xplsion naming their new coach? I was a little surprised that they will have games on tv here in pittsburgh (at least they say they will). But what really got me was that theyre supposedly going to play at mellon arena. MELLON ARENA! Thats where the freakin Pittsburgh Penguins play, and they can barely afford to rent it out for one season, and they average about 11,000 a game. I do expect the Xplosion to draw better than they did last year, because the Pit Bulls had one tv commercial that ran for about a week and then was taken off. The Xplosion have had commercials on tv all summer, and when they have tryouts for the team and the dance team, theyve shown it on the news (one thing that the Pit Bulls never had was media coverage). But if the Xplosion are able to draw 11,000 a game, i'm the prince of england.

If they average 1,500 a game, they are doing better than about 75% of minor league basketball.

i wish the xplosion the best of luck.............but to have ads running all summer and a tv contract is a great thing.............playing at melon will be a test for the team maybe they will do well............pitsburgh is a fickle sports town when the pirates are doing well they have a hard time drawing fans................best of luck xplosion

Did the Mellon Arena people actually say an ABA team would be playing there this fall? If not, I wouldn't believe a word spoken about such an arena deal.

This new ABA is simply repeating history (again). Too many people associated with this league are lying about their venues, lying about radio/tv contracts, and lying about why they have to change their team name so often.

It's all about history. Nothing has changed. At least three teams (I'm being conservative ) are lying about venues they have supposedly secured for the upcoming season. Most of the teams will not travel, which is a no-brainer because none of the teams will finish-out the schedule.

You know, TV commercials are nice and all, but just running TV commercials and hoping that people pick up the phone and call for tickets isn't going to get you to 11,000 a game. It's not going to get you to 1,500 a game.
