Does anyone really believe that TJ will have a team...also, does anyone really believe the schedule wasn't set up for this with a gbl owned team having the first, what, 12 games vs tj? Seems very suspicious since nothing is alive in tj with their site or their transactions...another dupe by mexico, or is it a great way for chico to get ready with another two weeks of practice? Come on gbl, let's be honest about this, alot of people are or were making plans to follow their team to tj...what's up?

Not saying I disagree with you because I am in the same boat as you planning to go to Chico to see the Outlaws on memorial day weekend (vs. TJ) but...
What if the this issue is they just have a really crappy website? The GBL transactions page shows they did sign a few players, a manager was announced, and they do have a lease for the stadium. And, since a google search of the news says nothing about TJ, maybe that is because Mexican media isn't on par with their compadres north of the border.
Again, just playing devil's advocate...that or trying to convince myself that Chico actually will be playing Memorial Day Weekend since I already made plans to head out that way :)

Same here.
I am planning to see Tijuana-Yuma on June 1.
Then see Tijuana-San Luis of the Liga Norte de Mexico on June 2.
Then Victoria-Tucson on June 3.

Everything can't be directly in order, or else wouldn't the GBL making more fanfare? Did they or the Cimarrones themselves not intend to keep the English speaking public informed on their club?
There's no website. There's no press. No tickets for sale anywhere. And, as mentioned, no hype. If this was, bang-on, going to happen, in the biggest minor league stadium in the country as was reported by the GBL during the stadium-lease announcement, we'd be hearing about it.
I think Tijuana itself won't field a team, but the GBL is prepared for this and ready to operate a travel team out of YUMA with players based from the AzSummerLeague and the NYStateLeague . The GBL can't let Tijuana become another idle in their schedule, as TJ is meant to be on-hand for the Maui home-opener (dumb scheduling idea to being with). The Maui situation I think is going to work out real well, but you certainly can't f*ck up and not have a team for the opening series, ABA style.
I think once again, everyone involved in the GBL will let out a collective sigh of relief when it's official that no one has to travel to Mexico. It would be interesting to play baseball there, and certainly, there are plenty of Americans in the higher Mexican professional leagues who apparently aren't afraid for their safety, but...it's just not worth it. If a Tijuana organization continues to stumble getting their team onto the field, then why would anyone be insured by their security assurances?

Not that this proves or disproves anything, but I've been in contact with Victor Duarte Sigala, the media coordinator (or Coordinator de Medios) for the Cimarrones. Nothing major, just trading an email getting information to put in our media guide, such as stadium dimensions, coaching staff, etc, etc.
So there is at least one guy down there in TJ expecting a baseball season. I guess it's all TBD, but last season the Potros pulled out right before camp began on May 9. We're past that now.

My friends and i are traveling from Vancouver BC to Maui for the Maui opener. I can't imagine the Cimarrones not showing up - the GBL would fall flat on its face in front of the Maui fans.

Watched them play in Yuma...some talent, but very little on the bump. I'm sure they are doing the best they can, but they will have a tough 1st half.
I have to admit I was wrong about them showing up...they did it and I applaude them!
As for the GBL setting up Chico...that's a no-brainer along with the Japanese girl they are making $$ off of.

I saw the Tijuana-Yuma games on June 1-2.
There pitching staff was very week.
Only a couple of Mexicans on the team.
Heavy in Ven & DR cast offs.
