This was written before I got word about Tupelo and Birmingham. When I get more information about scheduling, etc., I will be sending out another release and posting it here. Thanks.

It's Time! WBA Starts Seventh Season Tuesday Night

The seven teams of the World Basketball Association Exposure League (WBA) have gone through training camp and signed all of their players and they're now ready to tip off the league's seventh season Tuesday night in Kissimmee, Fla.
The 2010 season gets under way when the Florida Flight, based out of Kissimmee, host the Jacksonville (Fla.) BlueWaves in a battle of newcomers to the league. Tipoff for the game at the Kissimmee Civic Center is set for 7:30 p.m.
The WBA's seventh season will feature seven teams in four different states. Along with the Flight and Jacksonville, the Franklin (Tenn.) Knights and the Marietta (Ga.) Storm all are in their first season in the WBA. The holdovers from 2009 are the defending WBA champion Gwinnett (Ga.) Majic, Decatur (Ga.) Court Kings and the Tupelo (Miss.) Rock & Rollers.
After an off day, Marietta opens its season May 13 at home against Tupelo in another 7 p.m. game. The other three teams in the WBA get their season started May 14, with Gwinnett hosting Franklin at Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Ga., and Decatur hosting Jacksonville. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.
There are three more games scheduled for May 15, as Marietta goes to Jacksonville for a 2 p.m. matinee, Decatur heads to Gwinnett to face the Majic at Meadowcreek High School in Norcross at 6, and Florida is on the road at Tupelo in a 7 p.m. matchup. The league's opening weekend closes out May 16 with a single 5 p.m. game pitting Florida against the Franklin Knights in Franklin.
Each team will play 16 regular-season games before the playoffs, which are scheduled to start in mid-July. For more information about the WBA Exposure League and the complete 2010 schedule, go to the league's Web site at www.wbaball.net. The schedule is located on the site's main page under the "Schedule" header.
The WBA Exposure League serves as a training ground to develop players on and off the court. Emphasis is placed on exposure, development, community involvement, and most importantly providing an exciting brand of basketball and entertainment. Hundreds of former WBA Players have gone on to play professional basketball all over the world including the D-League and NBA.

well the wba has done a good job of staying in one region, and not having teams all over the country.

I remember when this league first started, it seemd like it was going to overtake other minorleagues. It had some real good people involved with it.

Not sure about now, but its certainly hanging in there.

Yeah, I was there in the beginning as a newspaper reporter and the first couple of years seemed a bit crazy (even moreso than what you might expect from minor leage basketball), but things have stabilized over the past couple of years and I think it can be a good league going forward.
