Start of WBA Season Just One Week Away

The seven teams of the World Basketball Association Exposure League (WBA) are hard at work preparing to tip off the league's seventh season, which gets started May 11 in Kissimmee, Fla.
The 2010 season gets under way when the Florida Flight, based out of Kissimmee, host the Jacksonville (Fla.) BlueWaves in a battle of newcomers to the league. Tipoff for the game at the Kissimmee Civic Center is set for 7:30 p.m.
The WBA's seventh season will feature seven teams in four different states. Along with the Flight and Jacksonville, the Franklin (Tenn.) Knights and the Marietta (Ga.) Storm all are in their first season in the WBA. The holdovers from 2009 are the defending WBA champion Gwinnett (Ga.) Majic, Decatur (Ga.) Court Kings and the Tupelo (Miss.) Rock & Rollers.
After an off day, Marietta opens its season May 13 at home against Tupelo in another 7 p.m. game. The Storm-Rock & Rollers matchup was originally scheduled for May 14, but was moved up a day. The other three teams in the WBA get their season started May 14, with Gwinnett hosting Franklin at Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Ga., and Decatur hosting Jacksonville. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.
There are three more games scheduled for May 15, as Decatur heads to Gwinnett to face the Majic at Meadowcreek High School in Norcross, Jacksonville goes to Marietta and Florida is on the road at Tupelo. The Decatur-Gwinnett game tips off at 6 p.m., with the other two contests set to start at 7. The league's opening weekend closes out May 16 with a single 5 p.m. game pitting Florida against the Franklin Knights in Franklin.
Each team will play 16 regular-season games before the playoffs, which are scheduled to start in mid-July.
