View Full Version : The Lightning embarrassed me on Tuesday night...

The refs should have been embarrassed as well, because they were horrible. Even worse than usual. Regardless, the Lightning need to get rid of Quincy Wadley as fast as they can and start running a real offense that highlights their sensational guards, Ronnie Fields and Snap Hunter. These guys get points off of their sheer athleticism, but need to start getting real plays run for them. It's not enough that they much drive and isolate and work for every point. Runs picks for them, get them open in-stride with momentum to the hoop... SOMETHING!!!
Wadley has been a flat out ballhog who has been an absolute bust. Please Coach Daleo, get rid of him.
And though Chris Daleo loves the fast-paced game, the Lightning still need a real big man. Their inside game has been atrocious as well.
Regardless, that's my complaining for the night. I'm sure everything will turn around soon enough... but enough is enough with Wadley. I think he wears anti-passing and anti-rim goggles when he plays.........
Later all...

Funny thing is that I just finished watching my November 15th tape of Gary vs. Rockford (getting my CBA fix) before I logged-on. At least in that game, Snap Hunter was the real problem with Rockford. He went one-on-one WAY too many times in that Rockford loss.
Gary had a similar problem with Maurice Carter. Carter was scoring over 20 points a game almost every night, but Gary was not winning. Maurice Carter got dealt to Dakota as a result. It was so important that Maurice get dealt that Gary settled for cash instead of a player in the trade. The Gary Steelheads have been winning since Maurice Carter left.

Snap is very much like that... a one-on-one player that can often overlook others. However, that being said, he's good.
Wadley sucks. Period.
Ronnie is a similar type of player as well. Somebody who typically gets most of his points from isolation, be that a product of the offense, or what he decides on. Regardless, Ronnie and Snap are both MUCH MUCH better than Wadley, and with all the moves that Coach Daleo has done lately, I'd hope he gets Wadley off the team and SOON.
Coach Daleo, Lightning people, are you reading this? Please release Wadley before he hurts his arms from shooting too much!
I'm usually pretty supportive of most of the players Rockford brings in, but this guy, man, he couldn't hit the water if he fell out of a boat....
not so fast

ronniefan, I've been busy with our college team lately, and haven't seen Wadley play yet, but I do know he has had a couple of good games on the road and I know he sounds like a streak shooter and usually those type of shooters are really good or really bad, and certainly, judging by the stats from Tuesday, he was bad.
However, as you recall, last season Rockford always had three primary scorers, david harrison, ronnie, and albert white, and when david left, Joe crispin stepped in. And this season ronnie and snap were scorers and wadley was signed to help them and become the third scorer. However, he is still a work in progress and hopefully will be consistent. Finding the right players is not always easy, I mean look at the defending champions Yakima, they are on a terrible losing streak.
The CBA has been decimated with players going overseas, some NBA call-ups, and some signings in the ABA. It has put a drain on the talent pool of available players, and there are also player salary concerns, when some players ask for way too much money to sign.
As for someone who has seen him play for Trezevant High School, for the University of Memphis, for Life University, for the Memphis Houn'Dawgs and during the old Bluff City Classic...Snap doesn't have much crackle nor pop when the game is on the line, unless it's just that I'm in the arena...LOL.

Agreed. I'm starting to see that as well. Snap is a good player, but not a guy you can rely on. He's a great supplemental type though.
But the Lightning have to find scoring somewhere, and Wadley, Hunter, and Fields are where they are obviously going. I haven't seen em play in the past week, but somehow Coach Daleo needs to get plays run for these guys...
Tough year this year. The talent is obviously diminished as the money oversees is just too good. Still, the CBA keeps coming back and I'm confident that the Lightning and Coach Daleo will be in the thick of things by the time everything is said and done.

03/04 cba teams are allowed 9 roster moves/yr, lightning have used 6.
Next move will have to be good as he needs to save at least one or two for injuries.

crap. I guess Wadley will have to stay. Hey, hey did play good last game. Maybe he was just on a cold streak...
Thanks for the info Lightning fan!
I might have to start shooting around again...
Hey Ronnie?
This may sound stupid, but is Fields with Rockford.
Also, I meant to tell you that your Ronnie Fields isn't the only Ronnie Fields that did well in Dodge City during the summer...I'll tell you about the other one later.
TEN...do you remember who I'm talking about?

Yep, Ronnie's in Rockford again. Can't beat that... leading the CBA in scoring and steals again. Perhaps this year he'll good a look at the NBA teams. I think he's maxed out what he do at the CBA. It's obvious it's time to move up, but maybe he'll never get that shot.
