Games May 23 and 24 between Brockton and Quebec! If you read down a few threads to my "Nice Thought" post, you'll see I visited the Ballpark last winter and it looked great! Hopefully this is just the beginning!

You think the Portland Sea Dogs feel threatened by this move? Old Orchard is actually a nicer ballpark...

To clarify, the games are Saturday, May 22nd at 6:30 and Sunday, May 23rd at 1:30.

Tickets as far as I know will be sold through brocktonrox.com

I would doubt that a Can-Am League team would end up in OOB, since it's so close to Portland. Best bet is a collegiate summer team to play there in the future. Not sure if I'll be making the trip up there for the exhibition games.

in it's day oob was a nice ball park. allthough never as nice as portland. i think it would be a great place for an necbl team. i'm not sure the area would support a can am team.

It was chilly on Saturday night. A very sparse crowd. Probably not more than 150 people. It was an odd night.

First off the ball park was ok. It was located in a nice spot in the middle of woodland. They started off not so great with the national anthem being botched by the trumpet player who was supposed to play the song being late to the field and the cd with accompanying music constantly stopping and skipping. They should have went with just the trumpet.

Then nobody informed us that the Canadian flag was at the front of the stadium barely visible. I saw some Rox players alert the others to look in that direction. That's how I figured it out. Thankfully there was no background music in that one. Melvin Falu was trying to order someone out of the dugout to stand with everyone but he wouldn't. I don't know who that person was. Also Falu served as bat boy since they didn't come with one. He did it with a smile on his face.

So the game started. They would play songs from Ed Nottle's cd between innings. That was pretty funny. And I was loving the quiet all around. It was a pretty cool feeling.

My g/f was freezing by the 6th inning so we left but I had a really enjoyable time there. It was nice to see a game without all the promotions and loud music. Back to basics.

Well, update here. The Lowell NECBL team is about to move to Old Orchard Beach. Can't do a link but check out story on www.ballparkdigest.com.

The Can-Am league tested that market a few years ago with 2 exibition games at the end of training camp. The stadium is nice but they don't have any local investors. I might add that they don't have enough population to make it a go. It takes 100,000 people in a 50 mile radius. Portland (17 miles away) already has a AA team (eastern league). You don't want to repeat the mistake Nashua made with a AA team located close by (Manchester)
