Listening to the FL ASG on the Internet right now, and there is much discussion about the new ballpark currently being constructed in Traverse City. Evidently the franchise which will be transferred there is the current Richmond squad. The announcer has asked his several guests throughout the game as to whether Richmond will be replaced anytime soon. They're not saying anything definite, but it sounds like the Roosters might be gone for quite a while.

Guess I'll have to get out there to see a game before I no longer can.

The FL deputy commish has said that just today a group from Lorain, OH, made a pitch to have a franchise there. As many of us know, the semi-travelling Ohio Valley team has had a few "home" games there, apparently with some success.

Additionally, not all hope is gone for a return to Johnstown. Evidently the city has some big-dollar renovation plans for the Point, and once done, the possibility exists for a comeback.

Butler, PA, and Fairmont, WV, have also been specifically mentioned during the broadcast as a potential future expansion sites.

Just before sending this post up onto the Great Wide Net, the announcer's guest mentioned that the FL is looking at about 16 franchises by 2007, and about 24 franchises within a few years. Well...we'll see.
