Everytime I think that things might be unraveling with the PBL, they pull a rabbit out of a hat.
This reuniting with Puerto Rico seems to be out of nowhere.
I know we can all criticize the PBL, but lets give them credit. They keep rolling, even in the midst of a lot of contraversy.

any idea? 4/5 wild card game (I hope)?
regardless of how it might affect Hfx, good to have them back in for the tournament.

Check the PBL press release on the OSC PBL page. PR are back in the league and will participate in playoffs.
I am withholding judgment on this until after I hear how playoffs will be handled.

Well chris, if Halifax plays the players you played tonight then halifax will win the championship.
I wonder if the PBL could heal their disagreement with Battle creek, I saw them last weekend in kankakee, they have a good team and will formidable in the IBL.
We need the midwest back in the PBL. I think I will start a petition drive. Steelheads fan, Will you sign first please? Then juniper, then sonnie20, then One way, then basketball facts.

Puerto Rico stated clearly that they were going to pursue legal action. Evidently the PBL realized that they were wrong and would probably stand to lose too much in a legal battle. I agree that credit should be given to the PBL for letting them back in. The next question is can they finish the season without "rigging" something or "fixing" something"?

Battle Creek will stay where the rules stay the same all season and the bills get paid on time.

The IBL owns the Battle Creek Knights. I don't think they have a disagreement with the PBL. Sign a petition??? I'll sign a petition to connect Chicago's lakefront bike trail with Northwest Indiana's lakefront, but that's about it.

Heard through my contacts that the PBL were forced to readmit PR because a federal judge signed off on their injunction that kept them from being expelled.

So much for the PBL rolling right along. More like a boot kicking their butts up and down the street.

Yeah, my assumption was either that the injunction was the reason or the PBL settled with PR at the absolute last second. Either way this is going to create some serious, serious scheduling problems.

This is the correct information. Court hearing took place today in Federal Court

No credit will be given to this league, It's just another slap in their uppity faces. Thats what they get sued and once again they lost in court. After all their threats well I guess thats all they are threats. Sooner or later someone beats up the bully and Battle Creek would never come back after being treated like step children from this league. Way to go PR but beware and best of luck this league dosen't like to be upstaged It's bad on their egos.

You guys are assuming the PBL did not want the P.R. team in the league, but maybe they did want them back.
Bottom line is the top teams of the PBL this season will be in the playoffs, and thats a good thing.
Why don't you guys give it a rest, the league has made mistakes in the past, and they acknowledge that. Now it's time to move forward.
I don't understand why there is so much emotion around the PBL. The IBL has been around for twice as long, and they get very little attention.

"once again" - when else did they lose?
You realize, of course, that you are probably the least impartial person here.
And again - the failure by the PBL to pay any outstanding bills (if that is definitively proven) does not change the fact that BC lost a championship last year in an altered format that they agreed to play. We all know this is where your vitriol originates from, before anythng else.

They didn't drop the case? Joe is still doing buisness as usual so who won? The court had to get involved with PR who won? Not the PBL. and I'm just as partial as other folks on here. Certain folks have always threatened to sue so I'm recomending the same be done if people are owed money sue. P.S. I don't and never will like the PBL. but thats my deal if you love them good for you.

League consistency.
No more IPod, TV deals, etc. They do play their games which for some reason is a major accomplishment, but one that should be assumed. Of course we compare the PBL to the ABA which makes everything they do look golden.
Lack of PR nightmares for the IBL...the PBL has on average three per season (not to include the Halifax PR nightmare three months prior to their season).
Duilio not seeking the attention that Doyle does. Both are serving as commissioners and only one has a special needs to be noticed.
IBL has always maintainted a low budget, low player salary (if any) and really a lower profile. PBL wants to challenge the NBA (Doyle's words in a conference call last season)...c'mon, dont be blind.

I have not seen anything that suggests that Doyle wants this attention.
And the question still stands: why the hate for the PBL? Yes, they've messed things up more than once. But why this level of vitriol?

Have you ever talked to him? Met him? Been there, done that. He wants people to know who is in charge...
I dont hate the PBL, just responding to the question posed by NSF.
All minor league basketball just needs to take a break and get together and create a viable association. Just dont let Moose Lewis, Duane Jenkins, James Shultz be the leader!

Joe lost the case to another party, not the PBL.
The PBL bought the judgment, but since there are no real assets for the ABA, they (the PBL) chose to dismiss.
And one can diagree with you and not by in the PBL camp, BTW.

Lightning man is right. Why this constant drum beat against the PBL? Its such a feeding frenzy with this constant pile on. Its sort of tired.
I agree Dulio from the ibl does not want any attention. But I don't think the Doc wants attention either. Why does he need it? Hes not Mark King. He really stays out of the light. I don't see his name blasted all over his website of the league or Rochester. I think he is a real genuine good person.
With that being said, I will always stand by the fact that Battle Creek got a raw deal, but yet the Doc told me once, it was not handled correctly. So what more can he do?
It is done and over. Remember, there are not a lot of good people out here, willing to spend their money and time trying to run a league, and give players and coaches a chance to continue their career. So why are we trying to bully the only decent league outside of the d league into oblivion?
Can't we all just get along?

Notably: "Rainmen owner Andre Levingston, who said he spoke to Hrywnak late Thursday, said the Capitanes took the PBL to court and that a U.S. federal judge “ordered them back into the league effective ASAP.”
Levingston said the Capitanes have agreed to “clear all debts” to facilitate their return to the PBL."

Let me get this straight. You haven't seen anything that suggests that Doyle wants this attention??!!??
You apparently missed the Battle Creek newspaper interview with Tom Doyle last season. He openly put down the Battle Creek franchise. You also apparently missed the recent press release announcing the expulsion of Puerto Rico Arecibo. It was mainly the rantings of Tom.
I've never heard of Duilio putting down a team in public. Did he put down Battle Creek for leaving? Elkhart for leaving? No. Likewise with Gary Hunter when he was commissioner of the CBA. Not a peep. Hunter didn't even say publicly anything negative about a team when Michael Tuckman jumped the gun and stuck a CBA logo on his website claiming to be in the CBA. Remember Michael Tuckman?
On the subject of hate for the PBL. These you hate the PBL and you're trying to make the PBL look bad proclamations are fan kool-aide powered, pure and simple. It's not just drinking the kool-aide, it's falling into the vat. People have dissenting opinions. Differing opinions happen during discussions. Kool-aide has a powerful effect though. According to a poster in another thread, I'm some sort of agent FOR the PBL and hate Arecibo Capitanes. The flavor of fan Kool-aide doesn't appear to matter because it all comes out purple stuff in the end.

Hooray for Arecibo Capitanes. Way to stand up and not get bullied around. Looks like the PBL just got shouted down

With all due respect do you know anyone like this dynamic duo? (IMO) They keep making the wrong decisions time after time after time. One of them threatens lawsuits constantly. Their "damage control" skills are terrible. They are more about the challenge of those who are on their side than focusing on the business of basketball. I think it will be hard for them to continue as they are burning bridges constantly. Business 101 is take care of your customer. If it was not for the fact that Doc has the financial means to support everyone involved, this league would be done. In fact if Doc decides to stop paying tomorrow, the league is done.
