Jenkins past quotes-
Third, as to the rest you fellows, you boys aren’t going to stop with the attacks until I exercise my rights under the law. The solution to these situations is simple. Find someone else to slander. I find it necessary to set an example. It unfortunate, that I’m forced to expend my valuable time to address this type of action.
Make any negative comments about me or the USBA and I guarantee you I will respond, if you play the game, my advice to you is you better know the rules. If you boys don’t like my response, don’t write about me or the United States Basketball Association.
You people think it’s your duty or you right to defame, ridicule, slander and make libelous statements about individuals you don’t know. Well, you want to come to the dance, don’t whine about having to pay the band.
Dennis Justice started this attack against the USBA in July 2007. He called me July 10, 2007, looking for a position in Asheville, North Carolina. His real intent was the gather information about the USBA to write on this site. Soon he’ll have a lot to write about.
You people have been trashing me since 2007. Why? Because you can, from the closet. You boys picked the wrong horse.
Our league was not created to be this type of entertainment to people such as you. Your comments make to Google. My vendors, sponsors, friends and relatives see your comments. There will be a price to pay for these attacks.
You are tortuously interfering with my business. I love a good fight, the question you’ll have to ask yourself, the question. Am I ready to tango?
“We are working tirelessly in our pursuit to find the best players available for all USBA teams; this will enable us to provide our fans the very best minor league professional basketball players from day one,” said USBA President and C.E.O., Duane Allen Jenkins . “This national search for players and our combine is a truly special and unique opportunity for all of our coaches to evaluate basketball players to fit their style of play in one place and at one time,” continued Jenkins.
An investment group from Canada has offered to buy the United States Basketball Association (USBA) for $3.5 million cash.
The offer is for the league, exclusive rights to all basketball teams, all marketing materials and current advertisement sponsorship agreements. The offer is said to include the current roll of eighteen teams and all other future league expansion.
“We are flattered by this offering, at this moment, I will gather our staff to discuss their offer,” said Jenkins. “After a preliminary investigation on the investment group, I believe they can afford us, do we sell, we don’t know at this point. Right now we’re moving toward our opening night next April.”
This is not the first offer I’ve received to purchase the USBA; in fact there have been five firm reputable inquiries.
According to my agreement with the parties that are currently interested in the USBA, I am not at liberty to disclose any of the details at this time. I can share with you that we are not a paper league. Our league operations manual is one thousand hundred pages. We have forty-one marketing products specifically created for minor league basketball teams
.
We are a real league with real teams. We are a Georgia Corporation.
I find myself spending a great deal of time answering attacks on my company and me. There is another site that caters to minor league sports. They have been very professional. The names some of you people call me and the USBA is disturbing. We have a real propensity toward basketball. We are an attribute to the game of basketball.
Does every new venture get the same treatment you people have given me or are some new leagues exempt because of their affiliation with certain groups.
Now...Now...boys and girls, don't get your panties in a twist. We've switched hosting companies and we've hired a web master to oversee our site. I realize some of you children have nothing else to do with yourselves, other than to make attempts to challange and ridacule me and the USBA. Pity. I'm so very glad that I have a great many things to occupy my valuable time. We understand some of you like to practice a form of, well now what's the phrase they use, I believe it's call mental mas***ba****or having fun with yourself in your own mind.
"We'll see you and your friends Courtside"

http://forum.eurobasket.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4552

So, apparently Duane blames us not being able to open the season (for the 4th year in a row):
It almost appears we were the ones who gave minor league basketball a bad name. The fact is we are trying to change the image that's been crupted by bad actors. I have only been involved with minor league basketball in an ownership role since July 2007. We found four of the individuals who have been bad mouthing me and the USBA. I'm forced to retaliate in court. I have no choice.
We will pospone the men's league until the dust settles and activate the women's league. Tell me something. Why are we receiving such severe criticism for trying to give people jobs? Some of these people act as if were are committing some sort of crime.
Duane, you are receiving criticism here because you failed to do what you have promised and promoted, here and elsewhere. You took to the offensive, threatening people for challenging you and calling out people here with - at best - middle school insults. All the while, you pointed toward the start of the 2010 season as a foregone conclusion. Apparently, your bravado was far greater than you preparation.
I and others here posted different versions of the same line to you - the best way to quiet your detractors was to follow through on your stated promises and play the games. At that point, you would be able to tell every person who questioned you where they could stick their opinions of you and your league.
But, for the 4th straight year, your league has failed to make it on the court. That is bad enough, but the bigger issue is that your league website has no updated information on it regarding the status of the league. Any league followers you may have acquired are not getting the most current or accurate information on your league, as well as the reason WHY you are not playing.
Just a few weeks ago you said that you had agreements with all venues, and over 400 players expressing interest in playing. What happened? Don't your potential fans - and the organizations you have aligned your league with in releases and postings on your website - deserve to know why you are not playing?

June 5 is 58 days away.
I suspect we'll see a WUSBA version of this press release then. Keep in mind that if he can't make a men's league go, how in the hell will he find the money for a women's league? Women's leagues (ABL, WNBA) have historically drawn far less than the men... who's footing the bill?
If he weren't so obnoxious about his legal threats, I'd almost feel sorry for him. It must be hard to be a dreamer whose dream simply isn't going to come true.

I would think the Women's Blue Chip Basketball League [www.wbcbl.com] would be a better option for women interested in summertime basketball then the unknown WUSBA. Although no league at the semi-pro level is perfect, the semi-pro WBCBL has been growing over the past five-plus seasons and has tried to regionalize its divisions.
