How would you know. nobody knows whether they found a new owner or not unless they are on the inside of all of it. Judging by your post it doesn't seem like you are.

I do know, and I am on the inside. So keep your unintelligent comments to yourself. It isnt public yet, and once everything is complete, it will be announced!!!!!!

There are three people that are on the inside. John Cunningham, Tommy Benizio, and whoever the knew owner may be. So unless you are one of them, which I hope not because anybody who is actually involved in a professional football team should not be chatting online with fans or even discussing their business in the open it is very UNINTELLIGENT to be doing so. This sounds like someone who wishes they really were on the inside.

You are still here trying to impress with your lack of knowledge, and you haven't a clue. A question was asked if there is a new owner. I answered the question knowing the answer. You had to get into the conversation with some silly rant, trying to be the internet tough guy and know-it-all. Why cant you wait for the official announcement? There are many more people on the inside than just those three, but there again, you haven't a clue. If you want to call someone out, I have some better ways to do so than saying random comments without merit.

There are many involved in indoor sports that chat online for several different reasons. Why are you here? Why would I wish I was involved in a business that loses several hundred thousand dollars a year? Actually that sounds like a nightmare. Again, you are showing your lack of knowledge. I just happen to be assisting someone involved. Sounds like you wish you were really a footballguy!!!!

I dont know who you are talking to saying I have no football experience. I have plenty of profesional experience and not in all those other arena leagues that wish they could be AFL. You really sound like you have no experience. "Assisting someone". I wouldnt want to be assisting anyone in that bad of a league especially such a horrible team as the Ice or anyone involved with them. Get some real football experience then come talk to me. Until you have coached in the NFL you know dick about football. Indoor (soccer) Expert.

Again, just another internet tough guy. I do have NFL experience and you are a joke. You should stay off of the message boards. Private message me if you want to talk some more so others dont need to read this silliness.

great news. there's a market for the Ice I'm convinced of it. There's just SO much to do in NoCo, they gotta find their niche.

Suprise, suprise, a new owner being announced. This market WAS a good location for a team. The two previous owners did little to reach the communities. The paying customers is under 500 per game. Buying the team right now gives the new owner about $300,000 in the hole after the word go. It will be interesting to see the new direction the team will go in. I believe the market will have a tough time rebounding, and we will see how long the owner wants to stay in the negative.

Windsor man new owner of Ice franchise
BY SEAN DUFF • SeanDuff@coloradoan.com • April 2, 2010

LOVELAND - Tom Wigley, a retired Windsor resident, is the new owner of the Colorado Ice.

Wigley was introduced at a news conference Thursday as the successor to John Cunningham, who announced last month that he wanted to sell the indoor football team for family reasons.

Wigley would not disclose the sale price.

Rick Hontz, general manager of the Budweiser Events Center where the conference was held and where the Ice plays its home games, said Wigley was one of four ownership groups that met with Indoor Football League commissioner Tommy Benizio. Hontz said Wigley had three characteristics that the previous two owners did not: he's a local guy, he has the resources to market the team and most importantly and for the first time he's a fan of the team.

Wigley, who said he owned five percent of the franchise before the deal, said he first began talking with Cunningham on March 22 and finalized the deal last Friday.

"I've come out of retirement, and this is going to be my sole business," Wigley said. "So I'm going to direct all my efforts toward this, which I think is different from the owners in the past."

Wigley said he is a longtime Colorado resident and a 1973 University of Denver graduate. He said he was a land surveyor for a Denver company and worked for the city of Thornton's survey department before retiring, and he and his wife moved to Windsor about three-and-a-half years ago.

Wigley is the team's third owner. Cunningham bought the fourth-year team in April 2008 after its original owner, Danny DeGrande, sold the team to the United Indoor Football Association, the Ice's original league. DeGrande faced mortgage fraud charges later that year and lost his real estate license. Jeff Dorschner, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Colorado, said last month the criminal case against DeGrande remains pending because he is a fugitive from justice.

Cunningham bought the team about three weeks after DeGrande sold it and its assets to the now-defunct UIFA.

Benizio said he thought Wigley would do a good job with the Ice.

"I think Tom is terrific." said Benizio, who spent three or four days last week here during his first visit to Northern Colorado. "I was impressed with his enthusiasm and the financial commitment he is making and his desire to make a longterm commitment."

The Ice is 0-4 this season. It has five home games left this season, and its next game is April 11 at Billlings.

The IFL is in its second season. It has 25 teams, up from 19 in its inaugural season, from Alaska to New York.

I personally know Tom and Patti, they have done nothing but given their heart and soul to the Ice, their employees and their fans. Patti is a really a great person. If you look at what the Ice has done in this off season, they have been real active in player recruitment, community team appearances and bringing stability to a franchise that was in bad need of it. From a ownership standpoint they are A+.
