Change of teams line-up - July 8, 2005 - by Gianni Pascucci
The AAPBL announced that Pueblo, Colorado, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, are out of the All-American Professional Basketball League. These teams will be replaced by two new franchises located in Minot, North Dakota, and Hutchinson, Kansas. The reasons why Pueblo and Cedar Rapids won' t be part of the AAPBL are some concerns with arena agreements and in a few other areas. Minot will join Billings, Great Falls, Butte and Casper in the AAPBL's Mountain Division. Hutchinson will join Wichita, Topeka, Lincoln and Mankato in the Plains Division. Of course, both Minot and Hutchinson will be part of the AAPBL Summer League, which begins Monday 11 and runs through July 22 at MetraPark Arena.

Both Minot and Hutchinson will be traveling teams. They will play nine home games and 51 road games.
Any idea on what happened to the AAPBL website? It has disappeared.

The AAPBL is going to have trouble in Hutchinson. Hutchinson Community College will have almost all the prime dates if they are playing in the Sports Arena. Plus the JUCO nationals ties up that arena.
In the long run, they may have to play more games at the Salt Hawk Activity Center, but there you lose all your Tuesdays and Fridays to Hutch High.
No wonder they are playing just nine home games.
Plus with Wichita State, KU, K-State and everything else, I can't see Hutchinson fans being interested much in winter minor league basketball. This is another market that would be a better fit with the USBL.

Not to knock the talent that will playing in this league, but I swear that Worth christie said they would be recruiting NBA caliber coaches and players. If you look at the Press release from the Lincoln Generals, it looks as though they have mostly JUCO and NAIA players... AllI can say as the way things are headed they will have players that couldn't play in the NBDL, CBA, or USBL.
I wonder if Worth Christie has partnered up with Joe Newman for the worst availible amatetur basketball entertainment.
From the Lincoln Generals Press Release:
The training camp roster is as follows:
Adrick Hills, a 5-10 guard from Bethel College, who led the Bethel College Pilots to a 19-15 record and a National Runner up in the NCCAA national championships.
Will Porter, a 6-0 guard who played collegiately at NAIA power California Baptist and was one of the top 3 point shooters in the country.
Sean Davis, a 6'0 guard from Bloomington, Indiana. Davis played with NBA players Sean May and Jarred Jeffries in high school. Coach Berokoff likes Davis' passing ability and explosiveness.
Kameron Gray, a 6'1 guard from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Gray was rated the number one point guard recruit of California Junior College athletes before heading into Cal Poly.
David Finklea played his collegiate basketball at both Creighton and Morningside College in Sioux City. The 6'4 guard was a Class A All State player in high school out of Nebraska. David is a solid wing prospect.
Nick Johnson, a 6-3 guard from California State Monterey Bay. Coach Berokoff likes Johnson's athletic ability, describing him as a guard who can score in bunches.
Terris Sifford, a 6-4 forward who played collegiately at Winstom- Salem State University. Terris appeared in 30 games for the Rams, averaging over 19 minutes per game. He was one of the top rebounders on his team.
Al Lanier, a 6-5 forward with both college and professional experience. He played collegiately at Hastings College and professionally for the Chicago Pros in the IBL.
David Johnson was a 6-6 forward at Bluefield College. Coach Berokoff writes that Johnson has great touch from 23 feet and in, describing Johnson as "instant offense" for the Bluefield College team that went 22-11.
Demetrus McCray, a 6-7 forward from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. He played professionally with the Colorado Bandits and made the all-star team in the LNBP in Mexico.
Daniel Zinchuk, a 6-7 forward from Emerson College. Zinchuk was named to the GNAC All-Conference team and averaged over 12 points per game.
Marcus Wernke played collegiately at Concordia University in Seward. The 6-10 forward averaged seven points per game and six rebounds a game, helping lead Concordia to a NAIA National Championship Runner-up.

Their summer league website is actually pretty good with up to date stats and scores. Anyone know who this Worth Christie guy is? Must have very deep pockets since he own the league and every team in it, plus running a summer league.

To run the summer league he is running could be done by most people. He charged the players $1,000 each to play in the summer league.
As for the season, his deep pockets will surely be tested.

Somewhere I read 120-140 players paid. Not many recognizable names or major college players from what I read.
