Interesting article from the Razorsharks. They seem a little worried about Puerto Rico in the playoffs, but even more interesting is the comment that (in their opinion)there are just "3 class teams" that will be competing in the playoffs. Roch, OK and PR. They don't give Halifax or VT (possibility of #4) any mention.

Article in Rochester Newspaper:

Rochester RazorSharks could be in deep water in playoffs

RazorSharks coach Rod Baker says Rochester is one of “three class teams” in the upcoming playoffs.
Surprise: The two-time defending champion Premier Basketball League Rochester RazorSharks will not be the favorite entering the playoffs this season.

The Puerto Rico Capitanes were loaded even before they added former Michigan center and 2009 NBA D-League MVP Courtney Sims to their roster last week. In his first two games for the Capitanes, the 6-foot-11 Sims had 18 points and 19 rebounds, and 27 points and 17 rebounds, to earn PBL Player of the Week honors. The Capitanes also welcomed back Angelo Reyes, who has averaged 19.1 points and a league-leading 15.0 rebounds in 10 games this season.

The RazorSharks beat visiting Puerto Rico (then 9-0) 113-101 on Feb. 15.

“They (The Capitanes) didn’t have Reyes and Sims when we beat them, but we didn’t have Keith Friel,” RazorSharks coach Rod Baker said Monday.

“Melvin Council stepped up and scored 28 for us.”

The Capitanes will host Rochester in the final game of the regular season April 3.

Baker said the RazorSharks (11-3), Capitanes (14-2) and Lawton-Fort Sill (13-2) are the “three class teams” in the nine-team PBL this season: “The playoffs will be the most competitive in the three-year history of the league.”

Four teams will qualify for the playoffs, with best-of-three series in the semifinals and finals.

I'm not sure how this guy can count out Halifax as one of the "class organizations" after losing one game to them and narrowly beating them in overtime in the second game. But we will see, the Rainmen do need to get back on track and we are in tough this Sunday

This Halifax/Vermont thing is making me sick. I can't believe Halifax are sliding this badly. (actually I can, and I should have seen it coming. And that's why it's so annoying)

I really think that at this point in the season it's LFS and PR as the clear frontrunners with Rochester, Halifax and Vermont capable of winning against either of those teams at home but not having much of a shot on the road. Rochester are in the 3-5 category, not the top two.

I would have to agree with that

We need to pray that we upset either PR or LFS. Earlier this year I would have said a win against Puerto Rico would be the best bet, but they have improved substantially. On the other hand, LFS lost one of the best big men in the league when Shawn Daniels left. They are still a strong team though. At least both games are at home which should give us a boost.

If we drop both games then we will be on a huge slide and that game against Vermont would be a scary must-win. Vermont have the easier remaining schedule and they are peaking; we have a tough schedule and we are slumping at the worst time.

So yeah, this sucks.

But on topic, Rochester is not in the same class as either Puerto Rico or LFS.
