ABA names Louis Dampier Division
07/05/05 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Indianapolis, IN -- The American Basketball Association today named the teams that will play in the Louis Dampier Division starting in early November. The teams including Minneapolis/St. Paul, Omaha, Kansas City, St. Louis, Indianapolis and Kentucky.
Ricardo Richardson, ABA EVP, commented, "Louis went to high school in Indianapolis, and played at Kentucky and for the original Kentucky Colonels. He's an icon in both CITIES - and well deserving of the recognition. This division has some great teams developing and should be very interesting."

I live in Kentucky and I wish someone told me that Kentucky was being demoted to "city" status.

Also, this -- "The teams including Minneapolis/St. Paul, Omaha, Kansas City, St. Louis, Indianapolis and Kentucky" -- isn't a complete sentence.

At least Ricardo figured out a way NOT to work "affordable and fan friendly" in there, although it looks like he replaced it with "interesting".

Well, THAT was 'meanspirited'. :-)

Sorry... the classics always work.

I think he used 'interesting' in that 3 of these teams are apparently still homeless - one month past the deadline.

I also like the touch that Ricardo, Joe, and Tom like to rotate who gets credit for the 'comment' that wraps up each anounced division. Nice touch.

Not as bad as the last one but c'mon you think they would have editors or someone to proofread their media releases.

"Mega Force ANNOUNCES coaching staff"; "Express LAUNCHES interactive website"; "Krunk ANNOUNCES new co-owner"

When will these ABA people learn that ANY team nickname is always used in the PLURAL tense (even the Miami Heat, Notre Dame Fighting Irish or the Stanford Cardinal). The Mega Force or the Express should always "announce", not "announces". The Krunk "launch" a Web site, not "launches". The rule is written very clearly in the Associated Press styleguide.

From the Atlanta Vision: "The Atlanta Vision is IDEA for talented overlooked players or those not selected to play in the NBA because the Vision provides exposure, development, and the platform to play competitively for 48 minutes."

Maybe they meant IDEAL. But of course, this is the ABA we're talking about. So maybe not.

At least they haven't misspelled ABA yet.

Be careful - you may hurt yourself if you keep reading ABA releases that closely - :D - at the very least, you will get quite a headache...
