View Full Version : Atlantic Coast League for Professional Baseball
Has anyone out there heard of this independent league -- the Atlantic Coast League for Professional Baseball? My understanding is that it is either a new league starting up for the 2010 season or just a year or two old. I have heard there might be 8 teams in the southeast, like South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, etc.

I think the organizer of the Atlantic Coast League switched to the Great American League that was planning a 2011 start. The GAL web site was www.greatamericanleague.com. I believe there were some discussions about the GAL on this board back in the past.
Thanks for the reply. I have been contacted by a GM of a South Carolina team about playing in this league for the 2010 season. I am trying to obtain independent verification about the viability of the league. If you learn anything more I would appreciate a further reply. Thanks again.

The GAL? Never heard of that one yet. That link by the way doesn't work Dan.
There was the SIB (www.superindybaseball.com) league which was planning a 2011 start. The web site now shows 810 days until opening day, they are even counting down the hours and minutes. That calculates to a May 19, 2012 date at 5:00 pm so they look pretty confident I guess. However, I see nothing new on the site, heard nothing of potential franchise locations.

That was the last known active GAL hyperlink. This league was discussed here this past summer: http://www.oursportscentral.com/boards/showthread.php?t=15494&highlight=great+american.
