Wichita beat Nebraska 47-36 for our 4th win in a row..

And the Rocky Mountain Thunder made good on their game just like the Colorado Stars and Wisconsin Locomotives did last year..
Which of course was a no-show..

The Central Missouri Wolfpack sporting a 6-2 record in the Central Football League got sent back to Misery with their tails between their legs after the Kansas Koyotes mauled them 73-0...

The Missouri Minutemen received another sort of bye bye this week as they did not play..

And although the winner is not in question... Only the score from Council Bluffs is a mystery as the Storm traveled north to face the Blackhawks.

The score from Iowa was Blackhawks 54- storm 3. Believe it or not the Storm didn't play that bad in the first quarter. The score was only 7-0 at the end of the first 15 but it was all down hill after that.

Thanks for the score JWalters...

I think that was the last scheduled game for the Storm..

Not to overstep too far Bill but the front page of www.indoorfootballfan.com has all the scores weekly on the scroller.

Thanks Chick and Guys..

I know this is being picky..
But growing up in the suburbs of Johnson County, Kansas right outside of Kansas City with the Missouri border being so close..

It's driving me nuts..

Not that anyone would want to claim them..
But the Kansas Storm does not have a home... Right?

OK.. They keep calling them Overland Park..
But.. They were supposed to have a game in Lenexa against.. Someone..
And the Wichita Eagle called them from Olathe...

I spent most of my youth growing up less than a mile from the address that is listed as the owners.. ... And although the unofficial APFL site lists it as Overland Park.. It is not..

It's in Shawnee, Kansas... Shawnee Mission is not a city.. Just a mailing address...

Oh well.. At least they didn't call it Missouri..

I have no doubt that the storm will have a home arena come next season. Whether it be in Shawnee or the KC area, count the storm in.

Well Tony-O... I went to that site...
GEEZ... What a mess...

I couldn't find any news as to "why" so many teams had been forced to forfeit all games for the season.. SO.. I registered and thought I might be able to find something out in the forums...

I am listed as the newest member. "KansasBill"...
BUT.. Everytime I tried to go to a message.. It kept calling me a guest to register or sign in.. I sign in.. Go to a message.. And it would send me right back to sign in again....

I was really curious about the 21-6 win for the Wichita Aztecas.. That some committee looked over and forced Wichita to forfeit.. BUT.. Then the team they beat... and then had to forfeit to.. Had all their games forfeited.. SO.. I guess the game Wichita won and had to forfeit was forfeited back????? lol

You don't think the guy in Indy running the ABA has anything to do with this league do ya.. heh

I didn't read about the Wichita Aztecas game, but that league is the epitimy of what the APFL shouldn't be, was, but isn't now. I'll see about that. It seems that every team that didn't make the playoffs was forced to forfeit their games.

Overland Park just broke ground on a new arena, but it won't be ready until fall of 2006 (According to KC Star). Olathe was also looking to build an arena, but put it's project on hold after Overland Park beat them to the punch. (Olathe is still building a planned shopping center at that site.) (The KC Comets indoor soccer team has committed to the new arena. The Star said the Central Hockey League is also looking at the building).
Unless the OP project opens ahead of schedule, the Storm wouldn't be able to use it until next year.
I know there are a couple of indoor soccer complexes in the area and three ice skating complexes, but I don't think any of those facilities have much in the way of seating capacity that I know of. (For the APFL, 1,500 would be the bare minimum, 2,000-3,000 would be ideal.) It sounded like the OP arena would be in the ballpark of the Kansas Coliseum and the Expocenter size-wise.

The Central Football League (and several others like it in the region) calls itself minor league or semi-pro. It is actually adult amateur (like the old industrial leagues). Most teams require players to pay a registration fee. Some even require equipment rental or for players to buy their own helmets and pads (and helmets are very expensive).
It's for the guy who may have played some high school or college ball and still loves to strap it up. In the past, the Aztecas used some high school seniors who were preparing for college ball (NAIA and JUCO players. The NCAA frowns on such things).

NK...

Do you have any idea why so many teams ended up forfeiting games?

My gut feeling (and that's all it was) Was perhaps using players not officially rostered?

It doesn't matter how loose the rules are..
Someone will push them.. lol

The league web site said nothing. The Aztecas web site I don't think has been updated this year. It's hard to read and it's hard to tell if they are 04 or 05 games. The team website and league website had different scores and the team web site said nothing of a forfeit.
I'll admit I know little of the inner workings of the Aztecas. They have had a couple of players from our area on their roster. About the only thing I know of that would cause the forfeit of a game after it was already finished would be use of an ineligible player. But at that level of football, what constitutes an ineligible player? (someone with NFL experience?)

OP's arena won't be done until Fall 2006, so not in time for next season. But have no fear, I have faith that they will find a home arena for next year and be ready to kick some butt!
