Indoor Football League Heads To San Antonio For Pre-Season Meetings
January 11, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)

Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League office and representatives from each of the 25 IFL teams will converge in San Antonio, TX January 12th-15th for the 2010 IFL Pre-Season Meetings. The meetings will be hosted by the historic Menger Hotel, located adjacent to the Alamo and San Antonio Riverwalk.

The meetings will consist of two sessions, one pertaining to owners and the other applying to coaches. A wide variety of topics will be discussed at the meetings, including; review of the league Operations Manual and Rule Book, expansion policies, national TV plans, officiating, and finalizing a playoff format of the 2010 season. "2009 was a successful inaugural season marked by tremendous growth in the off-season," stated IFL Commissioner Tommy Benizio. "These pre-season meetings will give the league a chance to discuss the upcoming season and set the framework for future plans which will continue to make the IFL the Premier Indoor Football League in America."

"Off-season meetings are a rare opportunity to get members from all 25 teams in one central location," added Assistant Commissioner Robert Loving. "There is no substitution for face-to-face interaction which allows a great deal of business to be conducted in a short period of time."

The Indoor Football League was created in 2008 from a merger between the Intense Football League and United Indoor Football Association. It consists of 25 teams located across the United States from Alaska to Washington D.C. The 2010 Season is set to kickoff February 26th and will culminate in July for the United Bowl.

Maybe they can let us in on the specifics of the "3 game ineligibility" rule.
Back when the Rage/Beef trade happened posters were discussing that the players would be ineligible for the first 3 games of the season. Since, I've talked with some that say they are under the impression the rule is being interpreted as affecting ALL players that pplay for a different team than they did last season.

Some say even players that were released and are free agents will have to sit out the first 3 games of the season if they sign with a new team.

Say it isn't so Tommy.

How can you punish a free agent or their new team with a 3 game "suspension? Please clarify and tell how the rule will be enforced.

That.. would be stupid.. the traded players sitting 3 games.. I'm all for.. although why should it carry over seasons?

Sioux Falls and Sioux City traded players this off season, does that mean that Leon Hall and Tommy Hofer both have to sit for 3 weeks, doesn't seem right. During the season, or after say week 7 or 8 make em sit.. (prevent them from acquring a team at the end to win it all)

Unless they change the rules, players only sit three games when they leave a team that has their rights to go to another team when their rights weren't released. If their rights were released (cut, trade, etc), then there is no sitting.
