Since it does not look like ABAlive will be releasing the standings, this is what I'm estimating from scores released, for this Div;

Kansas City 3 0
PGH. 3 0
Chicago 2 0
Lake Mich. 2 2
Detroit 1 0
Young. 0 1
Columbus 0 3

Many of the games have been played outside of the Division, but this is what I have at the moment. Any revisions are welcome!

Since it does not look like ABAlive will be releasing the standings,

According to their website, "they will be up shortly". In ABA terms, that
probably means by the year 2012, or when a Versus game airs (whichever
is sooner...) :p :( :p

this is what I'm estimating from scores released, for this Div;

Kansas City 3 0
PGH. 3 0
Chicago 2 0
Lake Mich. 2 2

Cleveland was supposed to play today, but it looks like nothing from them
or Youngstown.

I think the Swish website is more reliable.

I agree, but even that hasn't been updated in a while. They are actually
not a "full-time" team this season, but did a better job than the Rockers
in preparing.

I also tried the radio link --- and got nothing.

The only good thing I see the ABAlive has done is put their schedule up but apparently it's up to us for the standings.

As far as part time-teams, I knew that Akron is not scheduled until next season, but forgot Youngstown is only part-time. I keep wondering why they have schedules, which should be only for those teams participating!

The thing about part-timers is that the games count in the standings:

If teams are included in the schedule and standings, what's the need for the term 'part-time'?

If teams are included in the schedule and standings, what's the need for the term 'part-time'?

This is complete conjecture, but my guess is that it goes back a few years when the league asked a few teams scheduled for the following season to fill in for folded teams. Those scores counted in the standings. The next season teams started the trend of using non-league opponents. Akron, Youngstown, Chico and I imagine a few others are playing limited schedules that will impact the final standings. I suppose it helps the full-time teams by insuring that a team will show, and allows the part-time teams to gauge their markets. Then again, I’m generally wrong about league operations.

I'm new here. I tried finding something on the Rockers/Swish game. I couldn't. I might try calling the Rockers office. I'm endeavoring to keep track of all of the ABA standings and current team list. I hope to have my first edition up Between Christmas and New Year.

By the way, does anyone know the ABA playoff format?

Welcome, Cleveland Fan! You have a lot to learn about this league!
Unless you went to the Rockers/Swish game(in the event that they actually played) I don't see any chance that you will find anything out. But I wish you luck. If you do get lucky, please post it here.

Last year it was an 8 team tourney. OK, you regulars chip in if I miss something, but I was there and it pretty much went like this. Who goes is based somewhat on win-loss record, Joe's "power rankings" and what teams can afford to travel. Seedings are based on whoever the hosting team owner wants to play against. The doors are subject to open somewhere between 3 and 5 hours late. And in spite of all that, you may still see some good basketball.

The league has said that it has no money to help with the playoffs, so it is basically up to the teams. The last couple of years, one of them has stepped up to host a tournament, promising to pay the bills including at least some of the travel costs for the visitors. I know some teams that traveled to Nashville last year are still owed money. Assuming the ABA makes it to the end of the season, my guess is that either Tony Chase or the Southeast Texas Mavericks end up hosting a title game or tournament.

Its usually a good team with at least an modicome of fans who come out. How these guys think its a good business decision to fly in 8 teams for 4 days in order to win a championship is beyond me.

I think Preeths is right, assuming the ABA is still around, it will be a Tony Chase thing.

I do know one of the people involved in the host team last year stated that Joe "didn't even have the decency to be embarrassed" about the turnout and the state of the league.

Here are the standings as I've figured;

Columbus 5 2
Kansas City 3 0
PGH. 3 0
Chicago 2 0
Lake Mich. 2 2
Detroit 1 2
Youngstown0 1

Chicago still does not have their site working, Cleveland has but it's no better than before. Whether or not the Swish won their game with the Crunch, they are still in last.
Grand Rapids has not updated theirs either.

Cleveland Crunch was NPSL (and they actually played games...In front of real
people...In an arena...)

The Rockers actually had Sundays opponent listed as "Youngstown Crush"

I'm currently listening to the Blue Grass Stallions, who are playing host to the Columbus Crush. Orignally, the Charlotte Crossroads were supposed to visit but they cancelled last night and the Crush accepted the invite this morning. This game is late because the Crush wee stuck in Cincinnati.

Turbo, no need to for the effort. On the broadcast, they mentioned that Charlotte was unable to make it because of transportation problems.
Columbus was late because of traffic delays due to an accident in Cincy.
But the broadcasters kept thanking Columbus for their effort and coming and putting up a good game. The Crush are now 5-3.

Thanks, RWB!:)

From Cleveland's website:

LOYAL FANS AND SPONSORS PLEASE NOTE: For the 2009-10 winter season no games will be played at CSU Woodling Gymnasium as agreed because of an unexpected heating and cooling system failure. We were surprised with a call from CSU facility Manager with the bad news and then he sent an official e-mail on December 14, around 3:30pm. Since this being six days before our home opener we were forced to abandon the idea of playing a full home and away schedule this season. The entire system will need to be replaced and/or upgraded. The construction started on December 14, and will last most of our winter season. The Rockers will play charitable touring games locally and abroad in communities during the 2009-10 season, until our home venue is complete. Check our schedule regularly for updates on re-scheduled community games and events, most will be admission free or your free-will donations.

Thanks you for your continued support,

So, what about your away schedule? Why can't you play those games, Pierre? Their gyms didn't have "an unexpected heating and cooling system failure," but now you force them to scramble to cover for your failings.

And this is one of Joe's Kitchen Cabinet members. Great example to set for other teams.

According to the Phantoms schedule, they were to be our next opponent, playing up there.
I've had my suspicions about Cleveland.

As far as the end of this season;

Sat; Akron was to visit Cleveland; Maryland at New York(Elmira, 7) and Lake Michigan at Columbus(7).

Sun; Jersey at Maryland.

Tues.; Lake Michigan at Kansas City(8:30).

Wed.; Lake Michigan at Kansas City(8:30).

Those are just Division games.

Also, the CSU Wrestling team is going to host a few more matches at Woodling. They seem to be okay. Their page doesn't even mention a problem with the gym.

That is fabulous!

That's like when Joe claimed in 2002 that the Indiana Legends couldn't play in the Pepsi Coliseum because of (a) a roof leak and then (b ) moisture coming up from the ice under the floor, and so they'd have to play at a local high school.

It seems like if you get involved with this league, you lose all sense of shame and you can just say absolutely anything with a straight face.

I was the first to notice the water falling from the roof of the Pepsi Coliseum when the Legends played a game during a very, very heavy rain. I reported the water to team and Indiana State Fairgrounds staff people. The water was real. However it was falling behind a basket and did not affect the game in any way and would not have been a problem at any future games.
I was given other reasons for the Legends move to Arlington High School. What I was told may or may not be true and I will be keeping that to myself.

Meyes, I don't suppose you ever found out about the story of a gym floor, the Indiana Legends, Joe Newman, an charity, an facility manager who hates Joe, the gifting of the gym floor to said charity and controversy surronding the Legends leaving huh??????

Sam Hill

I was given other reasons for the Legends move to Arlington High School.

Which is fine.

But we weren't given other reasons. Joe put out a reason for public consumption that was immediately shot down by the facility management. And Joe never owned up to it. And, not long thereafter, the Legends were history.

It wasn't like the time they moved a game to Detroit because it was going to be on TV and then it wasn't on TV, right?

Let us not mince words, and let us not beat around the bush here: Joe Newman is as dishonest as the day is long. He says things that are not only blatantly untrue, but which are blatantly and demonstrably untrue with very little effort on the part of anyone looking for the truth. He's not only dishonest, he's just dumb enough to think we're dumb enough to buy his b.s.

Unfortunately, there appears to be no lack of people eager to buy his b.s. and continue to buy into this pyramid scheme that is the ABA.
