In my opinion I have to dissagree. The current standings are as follows.
1. Widsor Spitfires (OHL)
2. Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL)
3. Barrie Colts (OHL)
BMO Has listed Windsor 1st overall for the past 4 weeks. Prior to that Drummondville held the #1 spot. They had lost the #1 spot in week 10 as they had lost to Saint John. At this time Saint John had won a few games in a row. Windsor has also won a few games as well and deserved 1st place in week 10 and 11.
But week 12 and 13 should rightfully be awarded to Saint John. Reason being is by this time they not only had one of the longest streaks in CHL history, they were producing points with all 4 lines and beat the week 9 #1 team in the CHL twice and the #2 team Quebec as well. They have beaten each team chasing them for top in the QMJHL team and currently holds a record of 30-4-1 wit 22 strait wins
Windsor also has a (non losing streak) losing a couple games in OT and the streak isnt close to 22 games. I believe one of the legit reasons why they have been awareded #1 team in the CHL for week 12 & 13 is because how well their 1st line is producing. If you crunch down the numbers, Saint Johns 1st line consists of 2 players who have played over 15 games less then the top players on Windsor. Even with that much less games played they average a simliar PPG average but Saint Johns 2nd and 3rd line + Defensive core is producing more numbers then Windsors 2nd 3rd and 4th line + defensive core.
Windsor in my opinion hold the #1 spot, not due to their overall team effort in their streak but the (hype) surrounding their top line. BMO Officials are not looking at the big picture, and thats 22 strait wins and not 1 loss since 2 months ago. Saint John have been more steady and produced better points from more players then Windsor. Today we'll be Saint Johns 3rd game in 3 nights on the road against a Moncton Team who has won 5 strait. It will be a big test but they have been through these tests several times through the streak and thats why I feel they deserve to be 1st overall in the CHL for at least a week. Common BMO... 22 in a row, what more do they have to do.
If Hoffman and Peterson played all 35 games they would have simliar stats as the lights of Hall and other top players on Windsor.
If Saint John wins tonight and still arnt #1 as of Wednesday then someone isnt paying attention to this team enough and is playing favourites
