While it seems a bit odd one of the groups that is wanting to bring baseball back to ottawa the league they want to play out of is the golden league.

I don't think there is anyway that is feasible. Consider already that the GBL franchises have committed to trying to make travel to Hawaii work. It'd be good for Ottawa and th Can-Am to finally get it all together with new ownership. I am truly shocked we haven't had the announcement of a 10th team for this coming GBL's season. And shocked it hasn't been a Canadian city already jumping on the ball.

In the ottawa suntoday it seems the golden league wants to go to ottawa. So it got me thinking maybe in 2010 there planing a eastern division.

At Wikipedia, the Golden Baseball League mentions Ottawa as one of the possible future expansion cities.

There are many direct flights between Ottawa and the other Canadian GBL teams. That is a big plus!

That Ottawa mention at Wikipedia wasn't there less than two days ago. As I recall, there was mention of Hawaii which is not there anymore. Someone obviously added that upon hearing a local investor wanting to lease our beautiful stadium for a GBL team. Thing is, my understanding is that the GBL has not guaranteed they would grant a franchise to an Ottawa group. I guess it's dependent on whether this group wins a bid between it and at least one other, the main one led by Can-Am commissioner Miles Wolff. This decision won't be made by the city until February 1.

Like Hawk, I don't think that's feasible. Instead of GBL teams flying to Hawaii, they'd fly to Ottawa. The only difference is that they'd fly over land instead of over sea, about the same distance for most GBL teams.

If they are planing an eastern division, would it not make sense to approach eastern cities first? Not just Ottawa. How would that work with the existing divisions based in the west?

I want a team in Ottawa ASAP but not if it doesn't make sense and could compromise the future of such a franchise or the league for that matter. High travel costs for an Ottawa team may not make it financially viable.
