Rattlers give credit, interest to '09 ticket-holders
by Richard Obert - Nov. 16, 2009
The Arizona Republic .

Rattlers managing partner Brett Bouchy said that the team's new ownership will give credit toward the 2010 Arena Football 1 season, with 20 percent interest, to season-ticket holders who were not given refunds from the canceled 2009 Arena Football League season.

Bouchy said the former ownership group is not refunding season tickets. He said the new ownership group will give credit that can be used on team merchandise, season tickets or single-game tickets.

Bouchy said that ticket prices from 2008 will be reduced across the board. He said there will be more $45 to $90 season tickets. He also said there will be more than 2,000 season-ticket seats at $90 in the lower bowl.
"We're going to do everything we can to bring back that excitement of the late '90s and 2000, 2001 and 2002," Bouchy said.

Danny White, head coach of the Rattlers from 1992-2004, will oversee marketing and business aspect of the team.

"There's a good fan base," White said. "Raising sponsorship dollars are going to be a challenge right now with the economy the way it is. That's our first objective, to go out in the community and find some people who want to join the team."

White is hoping the new league will be financially stable for a long run. Players will no longer see six-figure salaries.

"As long as owners are losing money, that's short-lived," White said. "It doesn't matter how good the product is. Maybe now a viable business to start with is the right thing to do."

Does anyone obect to this?

Bouchy tries to twist the facts and split hairs (some might even say down right lie).
Brett was the AFL Rattler owner and he's the AF1 Rattler owner. Does having some different investors/partners change that fact?

Almost 2 years ago when the AFL suspended the 2009 season Brett said ticket purchases would be refunded. He's dodged the fans ever since.

Sure offering tickets and merchandise for the new team is better than nothing, but still reeks of a smack in the face to the fans that supported the AFL team and had ponied up their money.

Does anyone think it's similar to what is being done in Green Bay that has the fans calling for Royle's head on a platter. Sure, you say it's a huge difference between the af2 and IFL Green Bay teams. Don't you think there's a big difference between the AFL Rattlers with a $2 mil salary cap and the expansion AF1 Rattlers with a $150k salary cap?

Even if it's the exact same team, should the fans wanting their money back be obliged to receive it after waiting 2 yrs, and being given a different product?

Green Bay, definitely not the same team, not the same owner, not the same league. Pig even tells you Royle didn't purchase the af2 Blizzard. He didn't collect the ticket money or receive it in the purchase. Yet some feel he should refund them. There's a stronger case for Bouchy being liable for the AFL Rattler refunds.

Yet the same fans bashing Royle support Bouchy being involved in 3 AF1 teams?

I'm not trying to bash anyone or either league, just looking for some opinions on the two situations.

The Rattlers are back. Fans should be grateful for that...if they demand refunds, I'd give it to them, but I'd also post their ID by the ticket office under a sign which says "Do not sell to these people".

Fans who gave deposits or payment toward Arena Football tickets in 2009 should get their money back. The league has folded and the team did not play in 2009. It's criminal not to refund money to the people who for whatever reason have decided they do not want to purchase season tickets to the 2010 Rattlers. Contrary to Minor League Man's post, I'd give them their money back and a pair of free tickets to the first game. Showing them respect and inviting them to see the new product first hand would be the smartest thing they could do. Then again, since when is smart decision making part of Arena/Indoor football?

Anybody who bought season tickets for a canceled season should get their money back. I'd offer two-for-one season tickets if someone was willing to forgo a refund, but I wouldn't force anything on anybody. What really disturbs me about this is Danny White chirping about how many more $45 and $90 tickets there will be this year. In this economy, I'd be selling a $45 family pack (up to four people).
Arizona Cardinal tickets start at $50. The Rattlers are not the NFL.

Rattlers tickets don't start at $45 either. Cards tickets look like they start at $50/game, while you can get some Rattlers season tickets for $45 for the entire season. Sure, the AF1 team has some premium tickets that compare in price to the Cards cheapest, but you're comparing apples to oranges.
