Does anyone have info on what time and on what site the PBL draft will be streaming? Will in be on the PBL website?

It's going to be streaming on the PBL website. There's the @SportsTV video player on the right-hand side of the screen on the main page.
But as to what time....that seems to be the big mystery. I just turned on the player and it's not on yet. So maybe it's happening in the afternoon? That's a pretty big oversight not to let people know what time to tune in...

It will be interesting to wacht it, but i bet that it will be so different than last year. I hope so i'm wrong, in a few hours will see. It's difficult to think what the owners of this league are doing, it seems they don't care about money and supporters. Strange way to do business, i say again, i think they are not interested in the league, only in their ego, just facts. Thanks.
It's on at 12 p.m. eastern time

The PBL draft looks an awful lot like a weightloss informercial.

I'm so sorry, but i don't understand anything, i suposo this is a great thing for the PBL, if you go to the PBL Page, no word about. I need someone help me about what kind of league is this, please. What are the role of the owners and the people who are involved in the PBL? I think the great red flag is on the air. We'll see in a few weeks. All, from the distance, of course. Thanks.

Just talked to the PBL media guy. No live streaming draft today. The draft will be streamed tomorrow, I'm sure so they can but in video of the players drafted. I'm going to be putting stuff about it on my blog lawtonsportsblog.blogspot.com when information and picks for the Cavalry become available.

While I understand that there are logistical reasons for not streaming it live, I don't understand why they wouldn't indicate that on the website rather than saying that it will be streamed live.
Great idea, PBL. Terrible execution.

You understand as much as everyone else, including the PBL leadership. It's quite obvious their operations are day to day and on the fly.
The PBL draft looks an awful lot like a weightloss informercial.
On an unrelated note. All these quick weightloss plans and the Get ripped in only 4 weeks ads bombarding OSC are ALL a great lie. There's no substitution for a change of lifestyle. That takes years in most cases.

Maybe I am technology challenged but if the PBL draft was to be streamed would that mean live......or do we have to wait on YOU Tube.... or edited versions or exactly what the PBL wants the public to see.....stream means stream....am I ignorant....really I want to know. Why is it such as secrect if it's taking place at a very public venue......I don't get it.

Streamed means streamed, but it doesn't ipso facto mean live.
Streaming media are multimedia that are constantly received by, and normally presented to, an end-user while being delivered by a streaming provider (the term "presented" is used in this article in a general sense that includes audio or video playback). The name refers to the delivery method of the medium rather than to the medium itself. The distinction is usually applied to media that are distributed over telecommunications networks, as most other delivery systems are either inherently streaming (e.g., radio, television) or inherently non-streaming (e.g., books, video cassettes, audio CDs). The verb 'to stream' is also derived from this term, meaning to deliver media in this manner. Internet television is a commonly streamed media.

Streaming does not mean live, so as you've proven before you are ignorant.
But the PBL website said that "the draft, which will be held on October 29, 2009 at the ESPN Zone in downtown Chicago, will be streamed live on the Internet." So they said it would be live.
It's not a secrecy thing, it's most likely a "we thought we could do this production live but it's going to cost way more to do it that way than to do production after the fact." It's a stupid **** up and the league needs to do better.

YOU called me ignorant....actually ignorant is not a bad thing....it just means you "don't know"........so look in the mirror......YOU don't know. How many years have you been in broadcasting? My guess is ZERO because when you use the terminology "streaming".....it means live. So go into your hole and pick on someone who cares.

You obviously care because you took the time to respond to him.
And you were provided a clear defintion of a word from an outside source. You were wrong. You aren't going to get anywhere by denying the meaning of words and terms. Move on.
How's Vegas looking today, anyway?

I just off the phone with the manager of the ESPN Zone in Chicago at 5PM EST and he said the draft just ended......so that would mean it would have started at least by 3PM EST or sooner.....Streaming?.......I don't think so. So unlike the NBA draft of NFL draft or Heisman....it will be what they WANT us to see.....not what really is.

Actually, being a broadcaster, "streaming" is not always live. The University of North Florida streams their broadcasts live but are also available on a tape delay. In both cases it is considered "streaming".

Please believe me....in broadcasting terms....when you use the terminology "streaming"....it means a broadcast (either terrestrial or satellite) will be available in REAL TIME on the web. That's why it says "streamed"....just another word for real time.....and it is a real simple thing to do....and if the PBL is not up to par with this...then they are in the dark ages......hey....I am not a high teck guy but I know this is something that is real simple to accomplish. I want the PBL to be very successful....I love minor league sports....but this bush league stuff is counterproductive.

After making a call to the ESPN Zone in Chicago who informed me the function was over at about 4:30 PM EST and it's now almost 7 and I went tot he PBL website there is an infomercial for MOTOWN classics...I guess the Temptations and and Glady's Knight and the PIPS are in the draft. This is really really a sad state of affiars. what a joke

The Spikeman is wrong. It's obvious and the constant inability to make factual statements (and then standing by things which are obviously just flat out wrong) is annoying me, and I assume a few other people.
That said - the PBL did say that it could be watched LIVE online today and it wasn't. Even when this plan changed they only told someone because they asked, and even then there was no update on the website. The PBL also didn't use twitter (http://twitter.com/pblproball) to update the picks as they were made, despite that being incredibly simple. Even if they wanted to polish up production before put it out for replay, they could at least have streamed the raw, live event for local media and the handful of overly obsessed fans.
I am not opposed to the idea of these drafts, but if they're going to do it then they should take full advantage of modern technology to actually make this thing work to their advantage.

Too bad it looks like the PBL won't be out there this year! You saw that coming.
I've heard Kentucky is nice this time of year. Do they have basketball there?

What a shame, it doesn't matter the meaning of broadcasting, the serious thing is, how many teams for the 2010 season?, and other things that are meaning basketball, the other, hide the real problems. We'll see in the next weeks what is the future of the league, maybe the owners turn into the right direction, i hope so. Good night. Thanks.

I have never seen such a bunch of negative nay sayers in all my life. First of all, if you wanted to see the draft so bad, hop your tails on a plane to Chicago, and go.
I was there and it was a great production. It was well put together. So the streamline didn't work live,,,,well get over it. The draft was well done, I am totally impressed with what the PBL has done, and are trying to do.
You guys need to get a clue. The players loved it, the owners loved it, and all the fans there loved it. They also had an Owners meeting there as well. So it was a lot of activity there.
Instead of all of you cry baby critics complaining like 5 year old kids, grow up and lend a hand.
I saw a great production, and I also saw good people who care and are trying to do the best they can for some young men to have a chance to further their basketball career, not like you whining bunch of *****
As you can tell, I am a little irritated at you guys, and your lack of understanding of how hard it is too try and make a league work.
Some of you couldn't even run a little league baseball team!!!!!

The whole point is everyone was told the draft would be on the internet so why would you hop on a friggin plane when you supposedly could watch it from your own home. Maybe if the draft was hosted in my city like yours you would be the one crying. Even to suggest that people fly to Chicago for this draft shows your an idiot!

jimmytwotimes, maybe if you buy a few less budweisers you could have come. And as far as being idiot, you prove my point again. Childish. Please grow up. Plane tickets are not that much!
You guys have all this interest in the draft, well then go and see it for yourself.
