Continental Indoor Football League commissioner Jeff Spitaleri announced today (October 27,2009) that the Chicago Slaughter have been suspended for violation of league rules and failure to meet league financial obligations.
The defending league champions are delinquent in league dues and have not followed due process in preparing for the 2010 season, according to Spitaleri.

"It's a difficult decision to make, but it is one that must be done,'' Spitaleri said "We've tried to work with the team to come up with a resolution but repeated attempts to do so failed and the teams of the league decided that we should move forward with the suspension."

The CIFL will update the situation as warranted.

and have not followed due process

What the h-e-double hockey sticks does that mean? They didn't give the league a fair trial? I suppose if they want to go to court, it will probably happen

This sounds strangely familiar...That was the PR the GPBL put out when they suspended the Pittsburgh Phantoms...Shortly thereafter, they joined the ABA.

Slaughter not paying league dues...because now they're in the IFL! Announcement coming soon...

Exactly as MLM states, Chicago has not prepared and paid for a 2010 in the CIFL because the CIFL is not in Chicago's plans for 2010.

It's all in how a press release is worded and the CIFL's intent sure seems to try and shine a bad light on the Slaughter as deadbeats. Reality is it's sour grapes by the CIFL. They are ashamed they lost yet another showcase franchise. And the CIFL wonders why they can't hold on to their champions?

Such a shame. I had huge aspirations for the 7on7 game, but with Mutt & Jeff running the show it seems so futile to hope for anything better than what we got... a non-competitive league with ultra-high turnover of teams that plays most of it's games in a barn or VFW hall.

JD? ol buddy, ol pal. I thought Vinny and Guido fitted you with cement shoes and tossed the carcass into the Lehigh River.

Y'know, I was wondering how Chicago could afford the IFL and you couldn't. Thanks for 'splainin' it to us.
